<p>Job Details</p> <p>Job Location: New Rochelle - New Rochelle, NY</p> <p>Position Type: Part Time</p> <p>Education Level: Masters Degree</p> <p>Salary Range: $1273.00 - $1273.00 Commission/year</p> <p>Description</p> <p>The Religious Studies department at Iona University seeks to hire Adjunct instructors for Fall 2025 (08/25/2025 - 12/12/2025) to teach two sections of the course RST 206--Spirituality, one section of the course RST 326-- Theology of Christian Service, and one section of the course RST 328--The Religious Imagination. Course descriptions and section timings are provided below. Note that there is flexibility regarding content, structure, and evaluation. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in teaching similar courses. For candidates applying to teach Spirituality, preference will be given to those able to teach both sections of the course. For candidates applying to teach Theology of Christian Service, priority will be given to applicants with experience in grassroots community engagement. All sections are capped at 26 students. All courses are taught in person. Minimum qualification for all applicants: Masters Degree.</p> <p>RST 206-Spirituality. Course description:</p> <p>An exploration of contemporary Christian spirituality as the lived experience of faith - the on-going life-project of person integration and self-transcendence - offering theological, historical, cultural, psychological and interfaith contexts for understanding its manifold expressions. The course will survey select trends and issues in contemporary Catholic spirituality signaled by Vatican Council II such as the post-modern quest for meaning; the impact on personal self-understanding of contemporary psychology and cosmology; the challenge of social and ecological commitment; the variety of contemplative resources available for the development of the inner self; the way of Gospel conversion and sacramentality; and the relevance of the Catholic vocation - its vision, values, and practice virtues - for the life of the self and of the world.</p> <p>Section timings:</p> <ul> <li>Mondays and Wednesdays: 2:00PM - 3:18PM </li><li>Mondays and Wednesdays: 3:30PM - 4:48PM </li></ul> <p>RST 326-Theology of Christian Service. Course description:</p> <p>A critical exploration through academic analysis and community engagement into the theological meanings of Christian service, the particular interconnections of service and justice in the Hebrew and Christian scriptures, contemporary understandings of service as informed by Christian theology, Catholic social teachings, and modern-day icons of faith. Service Learning Course.</p> <p>Section timings:</p> <ul> <li>Tuesdays and Thursdays: 3:30PM - 4:48PM </li></ul> <p>RST 328-The Religious Imagination. Course Description:</p> <p>This course explores the myriad ways that human beings have encountered "the sacred" as an alluring yet perplexing horizon of existence. The course examines the rich variety of such encounters as they have been expressed across history and cultures.
