<p>Mission Statement</p> <p>To advance the health and wellbeing of our community with a compassionate and caring spirit.</p> <p>A Brief Overview</p> <p>Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, to provide therapeutic recreational and activity services to adult, child and adolescent patients with diagnosed psychiatric, addictive and emotional disorders. Consistently performs in a manner that exemplifies the Deaconess Cross Pointe Standards in both the area of employee relations as well as customer relations. Complete a comprehensive evaluation in conjunction with the interdisciplinary assessment and recommend a plan of intervention based on mutually established patient goals.</p> <p>What you will do</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate proficiency in unit specific skill including knowledge and required proficiency to deliver safe patient care. </li><li>Demonstrate specific aspects of care of mental illnesses, psychiatric disorders, addictive disease symptoms, effects and treatment. </li><li>Complete activity therapy assessment within 72 hours of admission. </li><li>Make treatment recommendations which are individualized to circumstances and needs of each patient. </li><li>Interpretations are accurate and useful. </li><li>Recommendations are clinically sound and demonstrate ability to assess all levels of care. </li><li>Performs complete evaluation in correlation with patient's diagnosis, symptoms, medical history and referral per policy and procedure. </li><li>Participates in the formulation of patient's treatment plans including the establishment of treatment goals and objectives. </li><li>Provide activity therapy groups to patients using various professional modalities that are age appropriate. </li><li>Sufficiently plans, prepares and administers groups in a timely fashion. </li><li>Completes therapy as directed by the Psychiatrist and department P&P. </li><li>Completes documentation reflecting appropriate care in accordance with established department policy re: time frame of assessment, frequency of documentation and information to be included in documentation. </li></ul> <p>Education Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Art Therapy, Music Therapy or related field, with certification Required </li><li>Master's degree in related field Preferred </li></ul> <p>Experience Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in working with psychiatric patients through internships or work experience Preferred </li></ul> <p>Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate both verbally and nonverbally with staff and patients. </li><li>The ability to engage patients in a positive, professional manner. </li><li>The ability to establish relationships with a variety of patients. </li><li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. </li><li>Ability to analyze complex situations and effectively problem solve. </li><li>Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. </li><li>Ability to utilize or learn to utilize Word, Excel and Outlook. </li><li>Ability to enter data, retrieve data and assemble and organize data. </li><li>Ability to utilize the electronic charting on a daily basis. </li><li>Ability to prioritize and respond to a variety of patient issues in a timely manner. </li><li>Ability to respond to patient psychiatric emergencies in a calm controlled manner. </li><li>Ability to complete de-escalation training and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS) training. </li></ul> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Therapeutic Recreation, Art Therapy, Music Therapy or related field Preferred </li></ul>
