<p>JOB DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>Newberry College is seeking an individual to build and coach a Mock Trial team, and to teach courses at the College within their area of expertise. Master's degree or JD required. This is a non-tenure track position. Requires travel for recruiting and competitions, strong communication skills, experience with Mock Trial at the collegiate or high school level, and knowledge of local, regional, and national Mock Trial organizations. College-level teaching experience preferred.</p> <p>JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Develop students' legal research, writing (briefs), and oral advocacy skills for court simulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify the appropriate National Organization to compete.</p> </li><li> <p>Recruit students inquiring about Mock Trial and coordinate scholarships with admissions.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct coaching sessions.</p> </li><li> <p>Teach appellate procedure, legal analysis, and argumentation to participants.</p> </li><li> <p>Mentor students on brief writing and oral arguments.</p> </li><li> <p>Organize practice rounds with guest judges.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate travel and logistics for regional/national competitions (expenses covered by the College).</p> </li><li> <p>Teach 2 courses per semester in candidate's area of expertise.</p> </li></ol> <p>APPLICATION:</p> <p>Send resume or CV and a letter of interest to human.resources@newberry.edu with the subject "Mock Trial" in the subject line.</p>
