<p>Application Deadline: Open Until Filled</p> <p>Hourly Wage: $13.65 - $17.47</p> <p>Dependent on experience and qualifications.</p> <p>Up to 40 hours per week.</p> <p>Temporary/Seasonal, Non-Benefited</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the Ranch Supervisor, the Agricultural Technician performs a variety of duties, including maintaining irrigation ditches, head gates, pumps, and water recording devices, ensuring water rights are beneficially used in accordance with Wyoming water law, and performing other activities required for the operation of City agricultural properties.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Adjust the head to maintain the allotted water flow in the irrigation ditches; keep head gates and culverts clear of debris; and maintain ditches and other irrigation structures. </li><li>Operate and maintain irrigation pumps. </li><li>Maintain and read water-recording devices and record flows as required. </li><li>Operate a variety of vehicles, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems in a safe, accurate, and effective manner with minimal supervision. </li><li>Ensure all areas requiring irrigation are irrigated in a timely manner. </li><li>Carry out activities associated with daily ranch operations. This includes, but is not limited to, fencing, building repairs, mowing, weed-eating, etc. </li><li>Noxious weed treatments and spraying. </li><li>Understand and follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Maintain simple records and logs, and complete reports as necessary. </li><li>Protect water rights by ensuring beneficial use occurs and by documenting it. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications and Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be 18 years old or older. </li><li>Experience or willingness to learn a variety of maintenance, repair, and operation of irrigation and agricultural equipment. </li><li>Ability to safely and efficiently complete tasks with minimal supervision. </li><li>Must have a valid driver's license. </li><li>Experience or willingness to learn basic water law principles. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public. </li><li>Experience in ranch work, property maintenance, weed identification and spraying, building trades, operating large equipment, or similar backgrounds is highly desired. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, push, pull, lift 50 lbs., distinguish colors, and wear protective apparel; exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confined workspace, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, toxic substances, foul odors, wastewater, sludge, effluents, bacteria, viruses, and traffic hazards. </li></ul> <p>Applicants who are offered appointments will be required to pass a drug screening, a comprehensive background investigation, and a driver's license check.</p> <p>The City of Laramie is an EEO/ADA employer and a smoke-free workplace.</p>
