Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The Damisah lab at Yale University is currently recruiting highly motivated Research Associate to join our research team. Our lab is composed of scientists from a range of academic backgrounds including neuroscience, bioengineering, computer science, and psychology. We seek to create a supportive environment for innovative and rigorous scientific research as well as personal and professional development of all our members. We provide access to cutting-edge facilities and excellent opportunities for collaboration with neurology, psychiatry, psychology, and neuroscience at the Yale School of Medicine.</p> <p>Our lab is interested in understanding the neural mechanisms of human cognition including various states of arousal, the neural correlations of interoceptive feedback during periods of heightened states of arousal including correlations of threat and emotional valence in the humans.</p> <p>Our project enables unparalleled access to various patient populations, a variety of complementary techniques: single and multi-unit neuron recordings, intracranial electroencephalogram, closed loop recording and stimulating devices such as DBS, RNS, measures of the autonomic nervous system (heart rate, pupillometry). This invasive human electrophysiology-centric approach is combined with behavioral tasks, naturalistic behaviors, and computational modeling to ask fundamental questions about human cognition.</p> <p>Required Skills and Abilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>A degree in Mathematics, neuroscience, engineering, computer science or a related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient MATLAB, Python and/or R programming and data visualization experiences.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Skills and Abilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>Previous experience with human scalp / icEEG, single-unit recordings.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong background in computation modelling of behavioral or neural data.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven experience with statistics, machine learning and/or brain stimulation.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven experience managing an IRB.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with time-frequency analysis in Fieldtrip, MNE or similar environments.</p> </li></ol> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Recommends the design and implementation of procedures and protocols under the direction of a higher-level authority. 2. Investigates, analyzes, and reaches preliminary scientific conclusions related to research planning 3. Ensures data results are compiled, analyzed, and presented properly. 4. Analyzes, develops and interprets scientific results. Maintains clear documentation of results. Prepares scientific reports and papers for research proposals and published reports. 5. Performs independent research and laboratory techniques and participates in experimental research planning. 6. Interacts with internal contacts including the PI, research assistants, graduate students, Radiation Safety and Biological Safety officers, and Animal Care personnel to discuss and evaluate research results and to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the laboratory. 7. Interacts with external contacts such as researchers at other institutions, staff at biotechnology and reagents companies to consult on research methods and to keep abreast of product information and developments. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.
