<p>Department: Exceptional Children (EC)</p> <p>Job Title: Exceptional Children's Teacher</p> <p>Term of Employment: 10 months</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to assume primary responsibility for the planning and implementing of the daily </li></ul> <p>program for children with special needs</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work well with children and staff for providing guidance to foster optimum </li></ul> <p>development.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to provide leadership in a classroom setting. </li><li>Ability to relate, work and communicate with children and adults </li><li>Develop and maintain appropriately written Individualized Education Program </li></ul> <p>(IEP) goals for students with special needs and ensure that these plans are being</p> <p>implemented</p> <ul> <li>Learn and use the Every Child Accountability & Tracking System (ECATS) </li></ul> <p>POSITION SUMMARY: The EC Teacher is responsible for providing children with a safe and</p> <p>healthy learning environment; advancing their physical and intellectual growth; supporting</p> <p>social and emotional development; providing positive guidance and discipline; establishing</p> <p>positive relationships with families and encouraging their involvement in the education of their</p> <p>children, ensuring a well-run purposeful program responsive to participant's needs; and</p> <p>maintaining a commitment to professionalism. It is the responsibility of the EC Teacher to</p> <p>provide training and assistance to the Assistant Teacher (if applicable) in developing</p> <p>group/individual activity plans, classroom management and procurement of needed teaching</p> <p>materials and supplies.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must hold a North Carolina teaching license and have proficient knowledge in the </li></ul> <p>area of child development. Experience with children with special needs preferred.</p>
