<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Student Support Services/Gifted and Talented Specialist</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>7/9/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Poplar Grove Middle</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>08/01/2025</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>JOB TITLE: Accelerated Learning Specialist</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten (10) Months</p> <p>IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal</p> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION</p> <ul> <li>To provide support and enrichment to enhance the instruction for advanced learners </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assess students' skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans</p> </li><li> <p>Gather data to ensure growth at all levels and make informed instructional decisions</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate with core content teachers and provide instructional strategies to support advanced learners</p> </li><li> <p>Develop individual goals based on data and implement the action steps in that plan by working closely with core content teachers</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in a variety of meetings to convey and gain information to improve service to advanced learners</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain positive relationships with parents and community members</p> </li><li> <p>Inform parents of progress and challenges to collaborate on best practices with each student</p> </li><li> <p>Model effective communication with students</p> </li><li> <p>Plan, prepare, implement, and assess instructional lessons based on the grade-level standards and the individual needs of each student</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as the special education case manager for students identified as intellectually gifted</p> </li><li> <p>Meet weekly with curricular PLCs to aid in planning for Honors Program classes and monthly with other Accelerated Learning teachers</p> </li><li> <p>Co-teach in a variety of settings to demonstrate activities, strategies, and questioning techniques</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement school-wide initiatives and Social and Personal Competency lessons</p> </li><li> <p>Support/lead Academic Focus enrichment classes</p> </li><li> <p>Identify students for Talent Development classes. This is a project-based learning class to support advanced learners. Curriculum is based on National Association for Gifted Children standards</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned</p> </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Tennessee Teaching License with approrpriate middle grades math endorsement and appropriate gifted endorsement; or meet employment standards for gifted teaching</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelors' Degree or higher in related field</p> </li></ul> <p>Demonstrate Knowledge and Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Effective communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Differentiated instruction for all learners</p> </li><li> <p>Collaboration with fellow educators to best serve students</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting</p> </li><li> <p>Frequent walking</p> </li><li> <p>Regular light lifting (less than 15 pounds); occasionally may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Work inside or outside; regular exposure to noise</p> </li><li> <p>May work prolonged or irregular hours</p> </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer Statement</p> <p>Franklin Special District (FSD) is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
