<p>Job Title Academic Advisor/ACA Instructor (10-months) Job Description</p> <p>The Academic Advisor / ACA Instructor teaches ACA courses and serves as the primary academic advisor for assigned students. The position focuses on student onboarding, academic planning, registration support, and ongoing advising to support student persistence, retention, and program completion. This role works closely with advising staff, faculty, and student support offices, the Director of Advising, and works in concert with the Lead Instructor of ACA, and Dean of Enrollment Services.</p> <p>This is a 10-month position reporting directly to the Director of Advising within the Instructional Support and Student Services Division.</p> <p>Full Time or Part Time Full Time Essential Duties Summary</p> <p>Essential Job Duties:</p> <ol> <li>Instruction: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Teach ACA courses using approved curricula and established learning outcomes. </li><li>Create and maintain a learning environment that supports student engagement and success. </li><li>Collaborate with the Lead ACA Instructor on syllabi, assessments, and course improvements. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Advising and Student Support: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Serve as the primary academic advisor for assigned students from enrollment through completion or transition. </li><li>Assist students with academic planning, course selection, and semester registration. </li><li>Conduct new student intake, advising, and registration appointments, including scheduled appointments and walk-ins as needed. </li><li>Respond to student success alerts and early-alert referrals in a timely manner, documenting actions and follow-up. </li><li>Monitor student progress and communicate with students regarding academic standing, requirements, and next steps. </li><li>Refer students to appropriate campus resources, including Counseling, SAGE, the Academic Support Center, and other Student Services offices. </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Collaboration and Communication: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to support students within their programs of study. </li><li>Communicate with students using college-approved systems, including email, the learning management system, and phone. </li><li>Maintain regular advising hours that are accessible to students. </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Administrative and Institutional Responsibilities: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Submit grades, reports, FTE documentation, and other required records accurately and on time. </li><li>Participate in required meetings, committees, professional development activities, and commencement. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Advising or Dean of Enrollment Services. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in education, higher education administration, or a related field. </li><li>Experience advising and/or teaching college students. </li><li>Knowledge of common barriers to student success. </li><li>Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. </li><li>Commitment to student access, persistence, and completion. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands</p> <p>Work is primarily performed in an academic (an office or classroom) setting with appropriate climate controls.
