<ul> <li>Forbes named Mesa Public Schools in their list of Best Employers in Arizona for multiple years. </li><li>East Valley Tribune names Mesa Public Schools as Best Place to Work in East Valley for multiple years. </li></ul> <p>Employment Type:</p> <p>Full-time (40 hours per week)</p> <p>Base Hourly:</p> <p>$16.31</p> <p>Class/Calendar:</p> <p>A11, 9.75 months</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>Sick leave, holidays, retirement matched through the Arizona State Retirement System, health, and life insurance</p> <p>Performance Pay:</p> <p>Available annually</p> <p>New Hire Experience:</p> <p>1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum</p> <p>New Hire Education:</p> <p>1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>To provide assistance and support to the head attendance clerk in the daily recording and maintenance of senior high school student attendance records to ensure reliable data for district, state and federal reporting purposes.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Confer with students on attendance and tardies </li><li>Record, collect and post attendance on computerized system; correct daily reports </li><li>Direct and receive telephone calls to and from parents regarding student absences, appointments, books, etc </li><li>Operate computerized parent notification system </li><li>Establish and maintain an accurate attendance file on each student </li><li>Confer with administrators on student attendance, excessive absences, etc </li><li>Compile and distribute a daily list of excused and unexcused absences to teachers and administrators </li><li>Maintain lists of students out of class for authorized school activities </li><li>Work cooperatively with school nurse and students and other personnel assigned to attendance office </li><li>Prepare sweep and attendance reports, compilations, weekly mailings and attendance correspondence </li><li>Regular and on-time attendance required </li><li>Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit </li><li>Assist registrar when needed </li><li>Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities </li><li>Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School education or equivalent </li><li>Minimum one year clerical experience </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree preferred </li><li>Experience with district based database Synergy preferred </li></ul> <p>Skills & Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate </li><li>Demonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and community </li><li>Moderate proficiency in typing with good accuracy; excellent test battery </li><li>Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc) </li><li>Knowledge of school policies </li><li>Ability to organize, to prioritize and to meet deadlines with an accurate attention to detail while working with frequent interruptions and minimum supervision </li><li>Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with students, teachers, parents, district personnel and general public; to be tactful and diplomatic at all times; to maintain confidentiality </li></ul> <p>Work Environment & Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Works in the front office of a high school, often interacting with students, parents, teachers, and administrators. </li><li>Collaborates with other office staff, administrators, and counselors to manage student records and attendance policies </li><li>May have to address students with truancy issues or enforce school policies, requiring patience and professionalism </li><li>The majority of the work involves sitting at a desk, often for extended periods </li><li>May need to move around the school to verify attendance, deliver reports, or assist with student supervision </li><li>May need to lift office supplies, stacks of papers, or small boxes (typically under 25 pounds) </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer Statement:</p> <p>Mesa Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination.
