<p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Related prior teaching experience at undergraduate level </li><li>Industrial experience or close ties with industry. </li></ul> <p>Job Specific Required Qualifications</p> <p>An earned Ph.D. in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering or closely related technical fields. The candidate is expected to teach a wide range of courses in manufacturing, especially first year engineering course, Interdisciplinary Design and Manufacturing, as well as some common industrial engineering courses. Developing new courses in the area of manufacturing is expected. Early-career applicants should show evidence of initiating independent research, while mid-career applicants should demonstrate a sustained record of independent research within academic or industrial organizations, and contributions to education and/or mentoring.</p> <p>Evidence of, research for Assistant/Associate Professor and/or industrial applications of manufacturing and industrial engineering for Professor of the Practice. Note the Assistant/Associate Professor are tenure track while the Teaching Professor and Professor of the Practice are non-tenured renewable positions with the possibility of multi-year contracts.</p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication skills. </li><li>Eligibility to work in the United States. </li><li>Desire to collaborate with other faculty members in the department and associated departments. </li><li>Ability to conduct and publish scholarly and applied research in reputable journals, and develop and sustain a strong externally funded research program. </li><li>Willingness to participate in department, university and professional activities including curriculum development, assessment, and improvement. </li><li>Understanding and commitment to Kettering University Values: </li><li>a. This includes preparation, delivery, evaluation of student performance, and course level assessment, and continuous improvement. Faculty are expected to hold regular office hours and make themselves available to students outside of the classroom.</p> <p>Percent of total time 30 Duties</p> <p>Scholarship:</p> <p>Faculty are expected to develop an independent program of research. The professor should strive to develop an externally-supported research program. The results of the research are expected to be presented at national and international meetings, as well as published in reputable refereed journals.</p> <p>Research may be theoretical or applied. As a university with strong ties to industry, Kettering University highly values applied research and integration of results into the classroom. As such, the assistant professor must engage in industrial collaborations to garner support for development of teaching/research labs.</p> <p>Scholarship in the pedagogy of engineering education is valued and contributes to the professional development of the assistant professor. However, it is expected that the assistant professor will concentrate efforts in manufacturing engineering and design areas other than pedagogy.</p> <p>Percent of total time 20 Duties</p> <p>The faculty is expected to make contributions to the life of the institution and the well-being of the Departments of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. This may be through service on committees at the department, university, and professional societies, and or other functions. It is particularly important to support and be involved in student recruitment, curriculum development, ABET activities and assessment of taught courses at the end of every teaching term.</p>
