<p>Position Summary</p> <p>This position is funded by a grant for a duration of time as defined by the grantor.</p> <p>Works under general direction to supervise a group of unskilled and semi-skilled employees and assists in the completion of semi-skilled work activities at Roads and Bridges.</p> <p>Pay Grade: 43</p> <p>Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>Four (4) years of construction experience of which two (2) years must be in a supervisory or lead capacity; AND</p> </li><li> <p>Tenth (10) grade education; AND</p> </li><li> <p>PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.</p> </li></ol> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>Schedules daily roadside litter removal, solid waste collection, and disposal for areas within Shelby County.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervises and coordinates the activities of a work crew or inmate work lines.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs inspections of the work assigned to unskilled or semi-skilled employees.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates as required in the clean-up of illegal dump sites.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and submits daily work activity reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Operates trucks and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in various recycling events and needed functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other related duties as required or directed.</p> </li></ol> <p>KSAs</p> <ol> <li> <p>Knowledge of Shelby County's Road system.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of activities and projects carried out by the Shelby County Litter Program.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of equipment limitations and necessary preventive maintenance actions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to lead and work with teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to deal with the public using courtesy and tact.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to maintain communication written and verbal.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of safe operating procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to identify when safe operating procedures require improvements or corrective actions pertaining to personnel and equipment.</p> </li></ol> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ol> <li>Must be in good physical condition: stooping, bending, lifting, and able to work in inclement weather is required. </li></ol> <p>Special Requirements</p> <ol> <li> <p>Must pass a physical examination.</p> </li><li> <p>Must submit to and pass drug and alcohol screening.</p> </li></ol> <p>Disclaimer</p> <p>This position is subject to a background check for any convictions that have a substantial relationship to potential job duties.
