<p>Overview</p> <p>The Shipboard Network Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing all aspects of the local area networks aboard US Navy Submarines. As a Shipboard Network Systems Engineer your goal will be to ensure the integrity/implementation of the network infrastructure delivering robust systems connectivity and functionality to Navy submarine crews. You will be expected to perform well in a fast-paced and results-oriented team.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Design and implement network solutions that meet US DoD standards and/or improve the efficiency/coverage of current networks </li><li>Integration of government furnished information and equipment </li><li>Perform technology investigations and trade off studies </li><li>Design and implement system configurations for shipboard and laboratory uses </li><li>Document and manage the installation of each network </li><li>Maintain and upgrade existing systems as necessary </li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve shipboard issues and network faults </li><li>Provide remote support and troubleshooting to Navy crews </li><li>Report design and construction status to key stakeholders </li><li>Review and update relevant test forms and test procedures </li><li>Installation and testing of Navy Applications </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Systems and Networks, Electrical/Electronic Engineering </li><li>5+ years of professional engineering experience </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Project management </li><li>DoD contract experience </li><li>EVMS experience </li><li>Military network/IT experience </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Strong interpersonal skills </li><li>Ability to work independently or in a team </li><li>Strong communication skills (oral and written) </li><li>Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to meet design and construction schedules </li><li>Ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance </li><li>Comprehension and interpretation of ship Computer Aided Design (CAD) documents and 3-D models </li><li>Project management tools and processes </li><li>Database management </li><li>Electrical/Equipment Drawings </li><li>Technical writing </li></ul> <p>Physical Qualifications</p> <p>Climbing, Crawling, Heavy Lifting, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting</p> <p>Environmental Attributes</p> <p>Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Outside, Wet</p>
