<p>Leverage your expertise in drainage and stormwater! Chatham County's Engineering Department is seeking a Civil Engineer II to manage drainage improvement projects, ensure compliance, and provide technical guidance. This role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline and five (5) years of experience. We encourage qualified candidates to apply!</p> <ul> <li>Develops effective drainage systems that manage water flow, prevent flooding, and protect infrastructure. </li><li>Conducts hydrological analyses and site evaluations to understand water flow patterns and drainage needs. </li><li>Manages capital improvement drainage projects, including supervising, planning, scheduling, and coordinating project engineering work, reviewing, and approving construction plans and supporting calculations, and ensuring project compliance with all codes and ordinances and established engineering standards. </li><li>Prepares design plans, construction details, specifications, and bid documents, holds bid conferences, evaluates bids, makes bid award recommendations, and reviews and processes contractor pay requests. </li><li>Participates in project budget administration, cost accounting, and project scheduling. </li><li>Serves as a liaison between contractors and County officials and department heads. </li><li>Coordinates and plans public information meetings, including preparing appropriate exhibits, plans, and information to present the message effectively. </li><li>Inspects ongoing and completed developments to ensure compliance with approved plans and issues violation notices and stop work orders to noncompliant sites. </li><li>Provides information and advice and makes recommendations to the County Manager, County Commissioners, and department heads regarding construction projects. </li><li>Attends meetings with the County Manager, County Commissioners, and others. </li><li>Reviews and provides technical assistance for proposed stormwater drainage improvements. </li><li>Notifies property owners of property impacts and construction schedules of projects. </li><li>Completes all necessary reports, charts, graphs, correspondence, maps, and reports. </li><li>Addresses, processes, investigates, and coordinates efforts to respond to citizen questions, complaints, and concerns about projects, including providing citizens with information. </li><li>Coordinates with contractors, other departments and agencies, and other interested parties to solve construction difficulties and problems and adjusts designs. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a closely related field, and </li><li>At least five (5) years of experience in Civil Engineering; or </li><li>Any equivalent combination of experience and training. </li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate. </li><li>State of Georgia Professional Engineering (PE) License. </li><li>Experience in hydrology or hydraulic modeling. </li></ul>
