<p>POSITION: HVAC TECHNICIAN</p> <p>DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>This is a 12-month position requiring manual and technical duties in the inspection, repair, installation and alteration of heating ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. An employee in this class, with general supervision from the Maintenance and Operations Manager, maintains the HVAC and related systems in the facilities county-wide. Performance is evaluated on attendance, accuracy of records, accuracy and promptness of work order completion, and continual trade knowledge improvement.</p> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>Perform HVAC duties including reactive maintenance, preventative maintenance throughout Worcester County Public School facilities. Also, serves as a member of the general maintenance department.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates with co-workers and Maintenance & Operations Manager for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently. </li><li>Diagnose causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs. </li><li>Fabricates equipment parts for the purpose of meeting specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts. </li><li>Preforms limited maintenance on gas and oil fired boilers such as cleaning, trouble shooting, and other diagnostics and make repairs. </li><li>Installs heating and air conditioning equipment and systems for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities. </li><li>Performs routine and preventive maintenance as needed for the purpose of ensuring the ongoing functioning of HVAC systems. </li><li>Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in a safe operating condition. </li><li>Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. (These may not be HVAC related) </li><li>Receive, reviews, comments and completes work orders on an electronic tablet device. </li><li>Participates in meetings, workshops, training and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. </li><li>Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation or repair. </li><li>Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations. </li><li>Assists in maintaining energy management systems. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED required. </li><li>Valid Maryland class "C" Driver's License and a safe driving record. </li><li>Working knowledge of HVAC systems and control methods. </li><li>Must hold EPA refrigeration handling certificate. </li><li>Minimum 2 years of experience in HVAC. </li><li>Excellent attendance habits. </li><li>Skill in the diagnostic of HVAC systems. </li><li>Ability to lift 75 lbs. from a four-foot level to the ground. </li><li>Knowledge of computers and data entering through support software. </li><li>Ability to write simple reports, maintains neat and accurate records, and performs simple mathematical calculations. </li><li>Ability to follow directions and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. </li><li>Ability to work overtime including, nights, weekends and in some instances being on call. </li></ul> <p>SALARY:</p> <p>This is a 12-month, non-certificated position.
