<p>Classification</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Minimum Pay</p> <p>$68,284.00</p> <p>Compensation will be commensurate with the level of the position, education, and experience.</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY</p> <p>Under general direction, performs accounting and analysis functions for Federal, State, and private grants, MCC Foundation and the College in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).</p> <p>Balances and reconciles accounting records, such as assigned grants and grant budgets.</p> <p>Process for approval the grant budget revision requests and fund transfer requests.</p> <p>Prepares monthly financials and routine, ad hoc financial and analytical reports on specific assigned grants.</p> <p>Maintains files in enterprise resource system.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li>Monitors assigned accounting sub-system(s); analyzes and reconciles accounting data and transactions; initiates contact with outside agent, institution, or with other MCC units to develop and implement a solution to an accounting discrepancy. </li></ol> <p>a. Performs the work in a timely manner according to special financial and accounting practices defined and established for the assigned sub-system.</p> <p>b. Analyzes complex reconciliation documents and other information to arrive at logical and accurate conclusions.</p> <p>c. Determines appropriate corrective action to take when confronted with discrepancies and takes the initiative to assure that corrective action is completed.</p> <p>d. Adequately analyzes the effects of transactions on reports, as well as accounting systems and sub-systems.</p> <ol start="2"> <li> <p>Applies GAAP, applicable state and federal fiscal guidelines, and agency fiscal policies to record financial activity in accounting systems and varied sub-systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as liaison to respond to inquiries for solution of routine accounting problems or for information or interpretation from third parties such as government, state, local or private grantors.</p> </li><li> <p>Balances and reconciles accounting records, such as assigned grants, grant budgets, journals,</p> </li></ol> <p>ledgers, payroll documents, agency-generated reports or related records.</p> <ol start="5"> <li> <p>Determines sources of errors by researching accounting records. Reviews and/or records correcting entries.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides support to auditors and other reviewers on grant information. Identifies and corrects procedural problems revealed in reviews and audits.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare various grant payment requests, monthly, quarterly, or other grant financial reports or forms as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in the compilation of data and prepares standard accounting reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Process for approval the grant budget revision requests, equipment purchase requests and fund transfer requests</p> </li><li> <p>Identifies training needs, providing guidance and training to staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in the compilation of data and prepares standard accounting reports to different departments as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate, prepare spending projections, and make recommendations for grant budget modification requests.</p> </li><li> <p>Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates assigned personnel, if any.</p> </li><li> <p>Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate and work effectively with grant managers and development office team.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with accounting departments, Accounting Services, Foundation and Grants Accounting.</p> </li><li> <p>Take initiative to assist when necessary.</p> </li></ol> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. </li><li>Knowledge of applicable FASB and GAAP standards and pronouncements. </li><li>Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to use College provided software; e.g., Ellucian's Colleague, Blackbaud's Financial Edge, Raiser's Edge and Microsoft Office products. </li><li>Knowledge of non-profit fund accounting regulations. </li><li>Skill in supervising, training, and evaluating staff. </li><li>Skill in demonstrating a cooperative and professional attitude. </li><li>Communication skills both written and orally, and excellent spelling, grammar, and editing skills. </li><li>Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Ability to plan, organize and perform professional level accounting duties and apply governmental accounting and auditing principles and procedures in the work performed. </li><li>Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment. </li><li>Ability to perform complex analytical studies and draw sound conclusions. </li><li>Ability to manage and prioritize multiple departments and tasks. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to College and Foundation business. </li><li>Ability to use office equipment including computer, copier, scanner, and fax machine. </li><li>Ability to maintain professionalism, patience and understanding in stressful situations. </li><li>Ability to interact respectfully, maintain professionalism and decorum when representing the Foundation. </li><li>Identify and recommend solutions and/or efficiencies in processes. </li><li>Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent education. </li><li>Five (5) years of full-time, work-related experience. </li><li>Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered. </li><li>Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities. </li><li>Background check required. </li></ul> <p>The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all inclusive.
