<p>Job Summary</p> <p>We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative candidate for a 6-month co-op role in our Research group. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact in the discovery and development of next-generation therapies for rare diseases. The candidate will gain valuable industry experience and receive extensive training in in vivo and ex vivo research. In addition, a successful candidate will be inquisitive about the science, capable of problem-solving by consulting literature/colleagues and contributes to experimental designs.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform in vivo techniques and ex vivo research bench techniques and/or experiments. </li><li>RNA isolation and expression analysis by qRT-PCR. </li><li>Perform in vitro assays to confirm the expression and activity of candidate therapeutic proteins (Western Blot, ELISA). </li><li>Maintain clear, accurate records of lab work and summarize results as needed in study reports. </li><li>Practice attention to detail and provide updates at team meetings. </li><li>Make contributions individually as well as in a team setting. </li></ul> <p>Core Competencies (Required Skills)</p> <ul> <li>Students majoring in animal science, biology, biochemistry, or related majors. </li><li>Open to learning and perfecting rodent handling and dosing techniques </li><li>Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team as well as independently with supervision </li><li>Strong communication and organization skills, good working knowledge of MS office, data plotting, and presentation. </li><li>Displays a high degree of maturity, honesty, trust, and integrity. A curious individual considers a scientific problem/question an opportunity for innovation and intellectual growth. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills</p> <ul> <li>Previous co-op or intern experience </li><li>Interest in muscle and/or bone biology </li><li>Interest in a future career in biomedical research </li><li>Experience with laboratory animals (rodents) </li></ul> <p>Education Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Currently enrolled as a student obtaining either a bachelor's or master's degree in a science-related discipline. </li></ul>
