<p>Current Employees: If you are currently employed at SOMC please log into UKG Pro to use the internal application process.</p> <p>Department: Patient Safety</p> <p>Shift/Schedule: Full Time (Salaried)</p> <p>GENERAL SUMMARY</p> <p>Works under the supervision of the Manager of Patient Safety and consultation on medical matters with the Chairperson of the Infection Control Committee. Functional responsibility for the routine surveillance and coordination of organization-wide infection control program. Performs other duties as assigned.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required </li><li>Graduate from accredited school of nursing required </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in related healthcare field preferred </li></ul> <p>Licensure:</p> <ul> <li>Licensed to practice as an RN in Ohio required </li><li>Certification in Infection Prevention and Control preferred </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Three years hospital clinical experience required </li><li>Two years hospital Infection Control experience with a course in surveillance preferred </li></ul> <p>JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS</p> <p>The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.</p> <ol> <li> <p>Assists the Manager with annual risk assessment, evaluation, and planning as required by CMS.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs routine, concurrent surveillance to identify clusters of infection and participates in outbreak/epidemiologic investigations in collaboration with the Infection Prevention LPN.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates an understanding of prevention and control measures and maintains current knowledge in the fields of infection control and clinical practice.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates and assists with organizational team meetings such as Infection Prevention Leadership Team, Sterilization and Disinfection Taskforce, CAUTI/CLABSI Taskforce, and other organizational infection prevention teams as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as the enterprise-wide infection prevention expert and consultant for all SOMC departments.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as the Infection Prevention expert for accreditation surveys, including Ohio Department of Health surveys and the Joint Commission related surveys.</p> </li><li> <p>Completes audits and tracer activities, including but not limited to, environmental tours, high-level disinfection, and hand hygiene as necessary to ensure compliance with key Infection Prevention activities. Provides feedback and opportunities for improvement to departmental leaders regarding the results.</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts investigations, researches evidence-based practices, and develops risk assessments as necessary to aid in resolution of infection prevention issues/concerns.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists hospital enterprise-wide and departmental in educational Infection Prevention in-services and competency training including new nurse orientation, new employee orientation, and annual nursing competency fair.</p> </li><li> <p>Investigates patient, health care worker and visitor exposures in collaboration with the Infection Control LPN and other departmental leaders such as Employee Health and Wellness.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participates and serves as the Infection Prevention expert for appropriate medical, nursing, and administrative committees as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees NHSN public reporting requirements for CMS and NDNQI as required by CMS. Ensures data, reports, and surveys are submitted to CMS timely and accurately.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and implements infection prevention and control programs using evidence based practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Works collaboratively with the Infection Control LPN to determine hospital acquired infections per National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) definitions.</p> </li><li> <p>Completes the Infection Prevention Dashboard monthly and shares with appropriate SOMC leaders.</p> </li><li> <p>Completes Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) for all renovation and construction projects. Monitors continuous compliance with recommendations as suggested in the completed ICRA.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participates in 24/7 on-call coverage as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors and reports monthly hand hygiene results to each participating department, and monitors action planning for poor performing departments.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitates and conducts Root Cause Analysis and Reviews on Health Care-Associate Infections and sees them through to completion.</p> </li><li> <p>Completes Gap analysis on evidence udpates and leads teams effectively to resolve identified opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>Thank you for your interest in Southern Ohio Medical Center.
