Through our agency's learning management system, you have access to hundreds of computer-based training and instructor-led courses.</p> <p>Where You Will Work:</p> <p>District One / 2981 NE Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, Fl 33909</p> <p>Annual Salary Range:</p> <p>$53, 864.96 - $69,707.59</p> <p>Your Specific Responsibilities:</p> <p>Supervises employees spending majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees' work. Oversees crews performing maintenance activities.</p> <p>Develops work schedule and assigns routine maintenance activities for the Department of Corrections (DOC) crews. Issues daily work assignments to DOC officers and provides them with the appropriate tools, equipment and materials to complete assignments.</p> <p>Performs field inspections to verify the quantity and quality of work completed. Ensures work is performed in compliance with Standard Indexes and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) policies and procedures. Verifies FDOT and DOC crew's production, work time, materials, equipment usage and locations are reported accurately on crew sheets.</p> <p>Performs work need surveys and plans work based on priorities. Submits planned work schedules to the Unit's Maintenance Management System's (MMS) Manager. Coordinates with the MMS Manager to plan resources and unit goals for FDOT and DOC crews.</p> <p>Performs minor operational maintenance and ensures that the proper periodic preventative maintenance schedule is performed in a timely manner and that equipment is kept in good working condition by coordinating with the local shop. Ensures that FDOT and DOC crews are following procedures for equipment maintenance and inspections.</p> <p>The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of department regulations, policies and procedures relating to highway maintenance operations </li></ul> <p>Skills in:</p> <ul> <li>Skill in determining maintenance work priorities and organizing resources to meet deadlines </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to interpret roadway design standards, maintenance rating standards, specifications and plans; Ability to inspect completed maintenance projects to ensure quality products; Ability to supervise others in the completion of routine maintenance activities; Knowledge of Maintenance Management System (MMS) guidelines and production standards. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. </li></ul> <p>Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements:</p> <p>Other Job-Related Requirements:</p> <p>Due to the nature of this position, the incumbent must respond to emergencies and be "on call" (24-hour duty) when necessary. While on-duty status, the position's incumbent must be readily available to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), consistent with the type of commercial driver's license (CDL). The incumbent is required to possess, or on a routine basis perform other CMV safety-sensitive functions. Must obtain certification in Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) - Advanced Level within one year and maintain it. The incumbent of this position is required to work with or around Department of Corrections inmates. A valid Class "B" CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with air brakes is required at time of hire. Responsible for adhering to the provisions and requirements of Section 215.422, Florida Statues (FS), related to State Comptroller's rules and Department of Transportation (DOT) invoice processing and warrant distribution. Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a short timeframe and serve on the Transportation Emergency Management Team.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>This position requires a valid Class (B) driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:</p> <ul> <li>three (3) or more moving violations in the past three (3) years that accumulate three (3) or more points per violation; </li><li>any two (2) convictions of reckless driving in the past three (3) years; </li><li>a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past three (3) years; and </li><li>a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction, in the past four (4) years. </li></ul> <p>Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed.</p> <p>In order to be eligible for hire into a position requiring a Commercial Driver License (CDL), applicants must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Drug and Alcohol (FMCSA) Clearinghouse, as required, for the Department to conduct a pre-employment query.
