At FJUHSD, we believe in the power of community, innovation, and excellence to ensure that every student has the opportunity to reach their highest potential.</p> <p>BUS DRIVER</p> <p>Under supervision, drive a school bus and/or drive other District vehicles; operate assigned bus in a clean and safe condition; and perform related duties as required.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES</p> <ul> <li>Drive a school bus or District vehicle transporting students and faculty as authorized over a designated route according to an established time schedule; </li><li>Transport students on field trips, special educational trips, and to athletic events selecting the best routes; </li><li>Maintain discipline of students while on bus; </li><li>Clean interior and exterior of bus; </li><li>Service bus with fuel, oil, and water; </li><li>Inspect vehicles daily for proper maintenance and safety, such as tire conditions, air brakes, fire extinguisher, First Aid equipment, emergency exit door operation, and all internal and external lights; </li><li>Complete required inspection reports prior to operation of the vehicle; and </li><li>Prepare statistical reports on daily student loads, miles, type of trip, date, and standby time. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of California laws and regulations applicable to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of students; </li><li>Knowledge of safe driving practices; </li><li>Ability to drive a bus safely and efficiently; </li><li>Ability to maintain discipline of students while on bus; </li><li>Ability to administer First Aid/CPR; </li><li>Ability to keep simple records; and </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates an ability to perform bus driver duties. A typical qualifying entrance background is completion of a formal classroom and behind-the-wheel training program approved by the California Highway Patrol for the operation of a school bus. </li><li>Graduation from High School. </li></ul> <p>LICENSE/CERTIFICATE REQUIRED</p> <ul> <li>Possession of a valid State of California Class B-P Driver’s License; </li><li>Possession of a valid California Highway Patrol School Bus Driver’s Certificate; </li><li>Possession of a valid First Aid/CPR Certificate; </li><li>Possession of a valid Medical Certificate; and </li><li>Before the end of the six-month probationary period, all drivers must hold a California School Bus License with either no restrictions, or an automatic transmission restriction only. </li></ul> <p>Requires a fully completed, on-line application profile with the following documents scanned and attached: • High School Diploma/Equivalent or higher degree• Resume• Valid State of California Class B (PS endorsement) Driver's License;• Valid California Highway Patrol School Bus Driver's Cert.• Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate (Adult, Infant, Child)• Valid Medical Certificate (DL-51A & DL-51)• Current DMV Driving Record (from DMV only)Prior to employment all candidates must successfully complete the District's clearance process, which includes: drug/alcohol testing, physical and back evaluation.
