Job Description

DPR Construction is seeking a Computational Designer to help advance our mission of building smarter through digital fabrication, model-driven coordination, and high-performance delivery. This role bridges the gap between design intent and constructability by developing computational workflows that enable model-to-machine transformation, accelerate prefabrication efforts, and embed manufacturing logic in design.

The Computational Designer will focus on the integration of computational design methods with digital construction strategies, supporting teams across architecture, engineering, and self-perform trades. You will work closely with project teams and innovation groups to enable scalable prefab solutions, automate complex model processes, and deliver high-impact digital tooling for field and factory teams.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain computational design workflows for VDC teams using tools such as Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino.Inside.Revit, and Python.

Translate design models into production-ready digital assets suitable for CNC machining, roll forming, or other fabrication methods.

Collaborate with trade partners and internal teams to support the implementation of prefab products across drywall, MEP, structural systems, and modular components.

Automate and validate geometry conditioning, metadata structuring, and drawing extraction from design models.

Contribute to the creation and maintenance of reusable scripts, libraries, and digital products within DPR's VDC and computational teams.

Participate in cross-functional development of internal platforms and toolkits that support scalable, repeatable delivery of digital prefabrication.

Support model audits and transformation for projects involving manufacturing-driven deliverables.

Qualifications

3-5+ years of experience in computational design, VDC, or digital fabrication roles within AEC or manufacturing contexts.

Proficiency in visual scripting and programming (Dynamo, Grasshopper, Python, or C# preferred).

Strong understanding of model fidelity, data structures, and geometry conditioning for construction and fabrication use.

Experience working with Revit, Rhino, Coordination Software, and manufacturing software a plus.

Familiarity with prefab delivery, modular systems, and digital-to-physical workflows (e.g., CNC, roll forming, robotic layout).

Collaborative mindset with the ability to support both field and office teams in delivering value from design data.

Why DPR

DPR Construction is a forward-thinking general contractor and construction manager specializing in technically complex and sustainable projects.
