<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Paraprofessional/Emotionally Impaired Paraprofessional</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>8/25/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>WORKMAN ELEMENTARY</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until Filled</p> <p>District:</p> <p>  Plymouth-Canton Community Schools  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>POSITION: Special Education Paraprofessional in Emotional Impaired Program (EI)</p> <p>LOCATION: Workman Elementary School</p> <p>HOURS: 37.5 hours per week</p> <p>Monday - Friday</p> <p>8:30am - 4:30pm</p> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>Paraprofessional will work one on one in small group and in whole class with students. Paraprofessional will provide support with academics, assist with organization, and monitor behavior and social/sensory needs.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High school graduate or equivalent. </li><li>Demonstrate ability to work with parents, students and support personnel. </li><li>Good communication skills. </li><li>Good attendance record. </li><li>Good organization skills. </li><li>Ability to be self-directed. </li><li>Ability to engage in problem identification and solving. </li><li>Experience working with children with autism preferred. </li></ul> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Works in Emotional Impaired Program. </li><li>Functions under the direct supervision of a general or special education teacher and has contact with special education professionals in developing work assignments, job responsibilities and services to the student. </li><li>Performs those health care, instructional or other related assignments developed by a special education professional specific to the student. </li><li>Assists the special education classroom teacher, special education support personnel in the implementation of health care, instructional programs and the management of student behavior. </li><li>Operates equipment used in the special education program for the production of printed or other audio-visual instructional materials; including computer technology and computer programs. </li><li>Performs other tasks as directed and supervised by other special education professionals, including sensory activities, oral motor activities and administering medication. </li><li>Assists the special education teacher and support personnel implementing behavior plans for students with disabilities. </li><li>Supports students in the classroom as well as in general education activities, inclusion, lunch/eating, recess, electives, bathroom, dressing, arrival/dismissal and any other aspects of the student's day. </li><li>Completes documentation logs for behavior, health, instructional, etc. purposes. </li><li>Medicaid recording and submission when required. </li><li>Supervise students in the lunchroom, halls, and outside. </li><li>Swimming with students when needed </li><li>Bending, lifting, and overhead work required. </li><li>Provides clinic/first aid/medication support to students. </li><li>Performs other tasks as assigned. </li></ul> <p>This description is intended to describe the essential job functions, the general supplemental functions and the essential requirements for the performance of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.
