This leadership role will manage a skilled team across a range of program areas, ensure compliance with local and State regulations, enhance public works operations and deliver exceptional customer service to both internal stakeholders and the public.</p> <p>Some duties of the Public Works Manager are as follows:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, coordinate and oversee the completion of asset replacement-related public projects </li><li>Update and manage the Maintenance Division's asset management plan and capital replacement forecasting activities for Fleet and Facilities Sections </li><li>Operate as the Maintenance Division's work order and customer service software and data management expert </li><li>Support public works supervisors with project management, analysis and report generation, and identification of opportunities to improve service delivery </li><li>Represent the Maintenance Division and collaborate with internal departments, outside commissions and stakeholders and members of the public </li><li>Ensure compliance with local and State environmental, contracting and other operating regulations and reporting requirements </li></ul> <p>A complete job description for this position can be viewed on our website atwww.cityofvacaville.gov.</p> <p>ABOUT YOU</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record in project or program management, budget planning and fostering a collaborative team environment. The City is seeking an individual with a positive attitude who is skilled in administrative functions and possesses the ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Manage multiple conflicting priorities and work well in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Be flexible and shift gears to assist with unforeseen circumstances </li><li>Analyze data, available resources and stakeholder wants and needs to make recommendations for prioritization of work </li><li>Assess existing processes, research alternatives, make change recommendations and oversee implementation </li><li>Ensure staff has the resources, training and support to provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers </li></ul> <p>While experience in public works is preferable, professionals with backgrounds in program management, analysts, supervisors or other administrative roles--who are seeking a fast-paced and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community--are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>A combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:</p> <p>Education:Equivalent to completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public or business administration, construction management, civil engineering, communications or a related field.</p> <p>Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in program and/or project management, preferably at a public works agency or similar environment, including at least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.</p> <p>License: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.</p> <p>ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE</p> <p>This recruitment is currently open and continuous but may close without further notice at any time.
