<p>About PLN</p> <p>Founded on Skid Row in 1980, Para Los Niños (PLN) partners with more than 10,000 children, youth, and families each year through integrated education, wellness supports and advocacy, addressing individual and systemic barriers to create pathways to success. In addition to operating early education centers, charter elementary and middle schools, youth workforce development sites and family services, PLN is the only children's mental health provider in the Skid Row neighborhood. PLN's community transformation work brings together community members, community-based organizations, city and county agencies, elected officials, and businesses to tackle issues that impact PLN families. Ninety-three percent of families served by PLN live in areas with the highest levels of food insecurity and homelessness in L.A. County.</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>Under the general direction of the Program Manager, the Group Facilitator is responsible for coordinating and delivering Partnership for Families (PFF) psychoeducational groups and classes. The role also provides crisis response services, peer counseling, and connections to internal and external resources to support participants in meeting their immediate needs and long-term goals. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.</p> <p>The Group Facilitator conducts participant intakes to assess eligibility and determine whether specific groups or classes align with the participant's needs. When additional needs are identified during the intake process, the facilitator provides appropriate resources or referrals to internal or community-based programs.</p> <p>Crisis response includes situations where a participant discloses an active crisis-such as domestic violence, suicidal ideation, or child abuse. In these instances, the facilitator responds promptly and appropriately, with guidance and support from their supervisor, to ensure participant safety and access to necessary services.</p> <p>Duties</p> <p>Attends community events and resource fairs, hosts informational sessions, and engages in outreach activities to raise awareness of the Partnerships for Families program and support group and workshop enrollment efforts. Conducts participant intake interviews to assess needs and recommend appropriate programs, and collaborates with agency staff, group facilitators, and community partners to identify, develop, and plan programming, including group lessons, activities, projects, and workshops for families receiving PFF services. Connects participants to relevant community resources and external organizations based on identified needs. Assists PFF in-home visitors with engaging clients via one-on-one, peer-to-peer parenting and psychoeducational support and guidance to families in the PFF program when applicable. Nurtures respectful relationships with clients and children and demonstrates sensitivity to the clients' cultural socioeconomic character. Tracks participants' attendance across groups, classes, workshops, and family-centered activities; collects and maintains demographic and intake data; records information electronically for monthly reporting; and administers required assessments, including pre/post surveys tied to specific curricula.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics</p> <p>High school diploma required, associate degree or higher in social work, psychology, or a closely related field is preferred. Certifications in domestic violence, substance abuse, and anger management are preferred. Demonstrated competency in coordinating and facilitating parent education, psychoeducational, fatherhood, and family support groups and workshops is required. Experience working with low-income children and families, along with a foundational understanding of their needs and the factors that support their social and physical well-being, is preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish are required, and we celebrate linguistic diversity, valuing the unique perspectives and strengths that multilingual team members bring to our organization. Travel Requirements: Up to 50% within Los Angeles County requiring a valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and automobile insurance.</p> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>To perform this job the individual must be able to carry out all essential functions satisfactorily. Must be able to speak and hear well. Good vision is imperative. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
