<p>The History Program in the School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences is seeking an instructor to teach an on-campus course HIST206X The Atlantic World in the Fall 2025 semester. The course would be taught once a week on Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 6 pm.</p> <p>The course is a joint project between the Humanities Program, the Education Program, and the Honors Program. So, while the course content is up to the instructor, it would also reflect the following aspects of the three programs: (1) A survey of the interactions and exchanges between the Old World and the New World between 1492 and 1804; (2) At least one module on art and culture; (3) At least one module with a social justice orientation (migration, colonialism, capitalism, or slavery).</p> <p>Responsibilities and Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Provide instruction utilizing the college philosophy of connected learning. </li><li>Post assignments on the college's learning platform on Canvas although other tools can be incorporated. </li><li>Provide a syllabus and course outline to students that clearly communicates course learning outcomes. </li><li>Align some course assignments with program learning goals and provide student work samples for college assessment purposes (sample assignments available). </li><li>Maintain a minimum of 1 office hour each through conference calling such as Zoom; on on-campus office can be provided. </li><li>Keep accurate records of student progress (grades) and complete mid-semester and final grade reports by registrar deadlines </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Doctoral degree in history or a related field preferred; ABD and/or master's degree will be considered.</p> <p>Prior college teaching experience to diverse students is strongly preferred.</p> <p>Successful applicants will demonstrate passion for a student-centered teaching environment and innovative, project-based learning utilizing an active, experiential approach.</p> <p>Lasell University is committed to equal opportunity in every aspect of hiring and employment.
