<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION: Business Administrator</p> <p>DESCRIPTION: The Business Administrator serves as a strategic leader responsible for the comprehensive financial and operational management of the school district. This pivotal role oversees all fiscal planning, including the development and presentation of the annual budget, accounting, and the administration of state and federal grants. Beyond financial stewardship, the Business Administrator manages essential ancillary services such as student transportation, food service operations, and building project finances, and supports collective bargaining efforts and personnel administration. The ideal candidate is a collaborative professional who can work effectively with the Board of Education, town fiscal offices, and building committees to ensure the district's facilities and resources are managed with the highest level of efficiency, transparency, and efficacy.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES: The Business Administrator will be responsible for the comprehensive administration of the district's business operations, including:</p> <ul> <li>Fiscal Leadership: Lead short- and long-range financial planning, including the development, implementation, and presentation of the district budget to the Board and the community. </li><li>Operations Management: Oversee critical ancillary services, including student transportation and food services </li><li>Human Resources & Labor: Manage payroll, employee benefits, and personnel functions. Participate in collective bargaining, including data preparation for negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations. </li><li>Compliance & Grants: Collaborate with grant managers to ensure accuracy in state/federal applications and reporting. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with a major in Accounting or Business Administration. </li><li>Certification: Connecticut State Department of Education certification #085 (strongly preferred) </li><li>Proven expertise in public school sector budgeting and town fiscal office collaboration. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in contract administration and collective bargaining. </li><li>Experience managing large-scale facility maintenance or building committees </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with building principals, directors, and community stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>START DATE: On or about October 26, 2026</p> <p>ANTICIPATED SALARY: $128,00 - $140,000</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURE:</p> <p>EXTERNAL APPLICANTS: Please submit your application through our website: www.putnamschoolsct.org</p> <p>INTERNAL APPLICANTS: Please submit a letter of interest and updated resume to Steve Rioux, Superintendent</p> <p>APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: May 1, 2026</p> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p>
