Changing Lives.</p> <p>UI Health Care is designated a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).</p> <p>Emergency Department | University Campus:</p> <p>The Emergency Department (ED) at the University Campus (located at 200 Hawkins Dr.) is currently a 44-bed department - with plans to grow. Our department will increase to a total of 57 beds by late this summer!</p> <p>Key expansion features include:</p> <ul> <li>Dedicated Pediatric ED space with 13 rooms, which includes 2 dedicated trauma/resuscitation rooms and a procedural room. </li><li>The main ED space includes 3 trauma/resuscitation rooms, an expanded Team Triage space, and 6 results waiting chairs. </li><li>A south expansion will include a dedicated triage space and 12 enhanced multipurpose rooms. </li></ul> <p>Our ED is staffed by a multidisciplinary team which includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, Paramedics, Unit Assistants, Social Work, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine providers, Pharmacy, and our research team. The University Campus ED is a 2021 recipient of the Team Daisy Award for their collaboration and teamwork that makes a difference in the lives of patients, families, employees, and our community. For more specific information about the Emergency Department click here.</p> <p>We are looking for nurses with experience to help provide patient care for our behavioral health population in the Emergency Department.</p> <p>Apply today and be part of something extraordinary.</p> <p>Characteristic Duties of our Staff Nurses include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness </li><li>Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations </li><li>Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings </li><li>Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes </li><li>Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response </li><li>Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan </li><li>Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care </li><li>Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions </li></ul> <p>Percent of Time: 90%</p> <p>Schedule example: 0700-1930, days vary dependent upon department need. Weekend and holiday rotating assignments required. Salary will vary based on years of experience and percent of effort.</em></p> <p>Pay Differentials: Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Premium pay for additional shifts greater than 4 hours. Relocation assistance available to qualified applicants. https://hr.uiowa.edu/benefits</p> <p>For more information about Why Iowa? click here</p> <p>Education Required:</p> <ul> <li>An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required. </li></ul> <p>Licensure/Certification Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>License to practice nursing in the state of Iowa required by date of hire. </li></ul> <p>Experience Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of six months ED, or critical care (ICU, telemetry inpatient) nursing experience, or completion of senior internship/preceptorship or completion of at least 100 clinical hours in an ED, ICU, intermediate area (Burn Unit, Intermediate Units), or pediatric inpatient area. Completion of senior internship/preceptorship or completion of at least 100 clinic hours on an inpatient unit (med/surg or step-down unit) plus a minimum 2 years EMT experience </li><li>Demonstrated ability to effectively manage critically-ill patient population within highly functioning unit/department </li><li>Proven capacity to function with a high degree of autonomy while actively collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team </li><li>Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions </li><li>Successful history in building/facilitating interpersonal relationships involving patients, families, colleagues, and student-learners </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li>General proficiency with computers </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of two years of ED or critical care experience (within the last 6 months) </li><li>Experience in pediatric emergency nursing care </li><li>Experience utilizing electronic medical records </li><li>Knowledge of University policies and procedures </li></ul> <p>Please attach a resume as part of the application process.
