<p>Union College: Part-Timer Application Reader</p> <p>Work Days: Varies</p> <p>Shift Start/End Time: Varies (weekend and evening work may be necessary)</p> <p>Hours Per Week: 15-20 (November - March) but may vary</p> <p>Weeks Per Year: About 20 but may vary</p> <p>Position Title: Part-Time Application Reader - Remote Position</p> <p>Pay Status and Classification: Non-exempt, Part-time Seasonal - Temporary</p> <p>Supervisor: Senior Associate Dean of Admissions</p> <p>Position Purpose:</p> <p>Part-time admissions readers are responsible for assisting in the holistic review of first-year applications. This role involves both teamwork and independent evaluation of domestic and international applications, summarizing each submission based on various components provided by the applicant.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Work in partnership with admission counselors and deans to review candidate applications for undergraduate admission.</p> </li><li> <p>Engage in a team-based reading process, analyzing academic credentials such as transcripts and test scores, letters of recommendation, personal essays, and other application materials to determine if they meet the institution's admissions requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides summaries of each applicant.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend regularly scheduled meetings (virtual)</p> </li><li> <p>Attend yearly application reader training (on campus / virtual)</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain an enthusiastic attitude, exercise sound judgment, and show effective time management skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Commit to 15 - 20 hours per week.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend regularly scheduled and ad hoc one-on-one meetings with the Senior Associate Dean of Admissions and territory managers.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in occasional meetings on campus or via a virtual meeting platform may be necessary.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and training is required.</p> </li><li> <p>Residency in New York State is required.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills in a diverse environment, demonstrating a professional and resourceful approach.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines consistently</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient in Word, Excel, and web applications</p> </li><li> <p>Access to reliable, high speed internet service</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in a related field, such as counseling or human resources, is preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Individuals who are currently working as admissions representatives, secondary school or independent college counselors, or admissions readers for other institutions present a conflict of interest but may be considered.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>Previous application evaluation experience. </li></ul> <p>Compensation:</p> <p>The hourly rate for this position is $22 per hour. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
