The Elementary Student Success Specialist (ESSS) works with the principal in carrying out the school's academic and behavior programs. The ESSS understands and responds to the challenges presented by today's diverse student population. An additional goal is to provide proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to support the students' academic achievement, personal and social development. The ESSS works cooperatively with the administration, counselor, staff, students and families towards creating and maintaining a positive school climate that ensures student achievement.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li>Bachelor's Degree required. </li></ol> <p>2 Preferred background in teaching, counseling or social work.</p> <ol start="3"> <li>Experience working with K-5 students. </li></ol> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work well with others including professional conversations, creating and maintaining school processes and procedures, and family conferences with staff. </li><li>Ability to work with students both one-to-one and in small groups focused on academic and behavioral interventions. </li><li>Experience working with elementary students and being an academic monitor/support </li><li>Experience working with youth and their families. </li><li>Ability to mediate and refocus students, staff and families on academic success. </li><li>Experience with Restorative Practices. </li><li>Dependable, reliable and willing to work hours beyond the school day. </li><li>Self-motivated to problem solve and creative in resolving school-based issues. </li><li>Understanding and willingness to connect to the community at large. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED RELEVANT UNDERSTANDINGS AND COMPETENCIES:</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with culturally responsive practices and pedagogy. </li><li>Awareness of the physical, social, emotional and academic development of children. </li><li>Awareness of de-escalation techniques. </li><li>Knowledge of social emotional competencies. </li><li>Awareness of ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and trauma informed practices. </li><li>Willingness to participate in on-going professional development related to job responsibilities and methods of supporting students. </li></ul> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Maintains confidentiality regarding information of a sensitive nature. </li><li>Provides individual support to students with identified behavioral concerns and academic needs. </li><li>Assists administrative staff with student behavior needs and discipline. </li><li>Works in collaboration with the teachers and other building staff to plan and implement support for the identified students through the MTSS Process. </li><li>Works closely with the building principal to create, implement, and follow-through with supports for identified students. </li><li>Builds and maintains relationships with students and their families to ensure students meet the goals outlined in academic/behavior plans. </li><li>Creates and implements alternatives to suspension. </li><li>Supports school-wide implementation of PBIS and other behavioral supports including Check-In and Check-Out etc. </li><li>Follows building disciplinary plans and District discipline policies. </li><li>Interacts and monitors students' behaviors while creating organized methods for students to interact. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by building administration. </li></ul> <p>EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on evaluation.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Principal</p> <p>SALARY: Non-Affiliated Elementary Student Success Specialist Salary Schedule, grade 6</p> <p>Salary Range $62,708 - $87,754</p> <p>Salary commensurate with experience</p> <p>Salary prorated to start date</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 days per year</p> <p>BEGINNING DATE: August 2025</p> <p>METHOD OF APPLICATION:</p> <p>INTERNAL APPLICANTS - Apply online using the Internal Applicants section. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.
