<p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Head Swim Team Coach, the Assistant Swim Coach is responsible for providing instruction and workouts that will prepare participants for their individual needs. The coach brings enthusiasm, commitment and a positive attitude to each practice, event and competition. They enrich the lives of athletes in many life-changing ways. The YMCA is a leader in child abuse prevention to support the safety of children in our care.</p> <ul> <li>You'll support the commitment of the YMCA to child abuse prevention by: </li><li>Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor. </li><li>Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children. </li><li>Report any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor. </li><li>Complete all child abuse prevention training as required. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Design and plan swim instruction and workout curriculums for designated levels. </li><li>Provide feedback to participants to facilitate improvement. </li><li>Enforce aquatic rules and policies by maintaining constant surveillance of class participants. </li><li>Record and maintain attendance records. </li><li>Set up facility or equipment, store equipment, and secure facility upon completion of class. </li><li>Attend all Stingrays Home Meets as well as a minimum of 2 away meet sessions per quarter. </li><li>Attends scheduled swim meets. If unable to attend as scheduled, responsible for finding a sub. </li><li>Attendance is mandatory for Championship Swim Meets. Dates will be provided at the beginning of the swim season. </li><li>Attend monthly staff meetings or as scheduled. </li><li>Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor or the person responsible for those items at your site. </li><li>Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to managing visitors and guests at our facilities. </li><li>Report any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor. </li><li>Ensures a strong focus on character development and diversity, equity and inclusion throughout programming. </li><li>Reports damaged equipment or safety hazards promptly. </li><li>Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Rock River Valley. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Minimum age of 18 years old. </li><li>High-school diploma preferred. </li><li>Proficiency in and demonstration of swimming and safety skills. Competitive swim experience preferred. </li><li>Ability to obtain all necessary Y of the USA swim team and coaching certifications, all USA Swimming Coaching Requirements within 30 days. USA Swimming Legacy Series Bob Bowman Course within 60 days of hire. </li><li>Ability to motivate and educate participants. </li><li>Must be capable of handling dangerous situations to assure safety of all swimmers and guests. </li><li>Praesidium Academy trainings. </li><li>Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations. </li><li>Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others. </li></ul> <p>SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION</p> <p>3 Positions</p> <p>Part-Time, Non-Exempt</p> <p>SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA</p> <p>Practices Monday - Friday 4:00 - 8:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 - 11:00 am</p> <p>Swim Meet Hours Vary to include weekends with some Fridays</p> <p>Willingness to sub depending on candidate availability</p> <p>$15.00 per hour</p> <p>The Y is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
