Through deep partnerships with schools, communities, and city agencies, we deliver high-quality experiences that address the needs of the whole child and build pathways to lifelong success.</p> <p>NYE also serves as a leading Community-Based Organization (CBO) in the NYC Community Schools initiative, partnering with school leadership to coordinate integrated supports such as expanded learning, family engagement, and wellness services to ensure students and families have access to comprehensive school-based resources</p> <p>About Fusion Arts at New York Edge - Summary</p> <p>Fusion Arts is an interdisciplinary program that empowers youth through Dance, Music, and Fashion, emphasizing cultural expression and creative collaboration. Specialists in each discipline guide students in hands-on workshops rooted in global genres, culminating in a final showcase that highlights student voice, identity, and artistic growth. This dual-reporting role supports both the Curriculum & Instruction team and Site Program Directors, working across two program sites to deliver engaging, high-quality programming aligned with Fusion Arts goals.</p> <p>Specialist Roles Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Dance: Teach styles such as Jazz, Hip Hop, House, Afrobeats, and traditional Latin dances (e.g., Bomba, Plena, Merengue, Bachata); create culturally informed choreography and lead rehearsals.</p> </li><li> <p>Music: Introduce rhythm, song, and improvisation using percussion and digital tools; explore genre-specific sounds and support performance music direction.</p> </li><li> <p>Fashion: Teach sketching, sewing, styling, and garment construction; support cultural storytelling through wearable design and performance wardrobe creation.</p> </li></ul> <p>Why Join:</p> <p>Fusion Arts Specialists co-create joyful, meaningful learning experiences that inspire youth and open pathways into arts, entertainment, and design careers. You'll work as both an artist and educator, contributing to a visionary program that centers youth voice, culture, and creativity.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Specialists deliver engaging, culturally responsive instruction in their discipline while collaborating across teams to create an integrated arts experience.This dual-reporting role supports both the Curriculum & Instruction team and Site Program Directors, working across two program sites to deliver high-quality programming, aligned with Fusion Arts goals.</p> <p>Schedule:</p> <p>Afterschool (Mon-Thurs, 2:30-6:00 PM); optional Saturdays (9:30 AM-3:30 PM); bi-weekly meetings and trainings required.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead discipline-specific, hands-on workshops aligned with the Fusion Arts curriculum</p> </li><li> <p>Foster safe, inclusive, and creative spaces for students</p> </li><li> <p>Adapt lessons to student interests and community context</p> </li><li> <p>Manage session materials, classroom engagement, and student documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate on final performance planning and execution</p> </li><li> <p>Attend ongoing trainings and planning meetings to enhance practice and align across sites</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications - Summary</p> <ul> <li> <p>High School Diploma or equivalent (required); college coursework or degree in arts, education, or related field preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum 1 year of experience teaching youth in educational, community, or arts settings</p> </li><li> <p>Proven skill and passion in Dance, Music, or Fashion instruction</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to travel and work in person at two school-based program sites</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills</p> </li><li> <p>Must be 18 years or older</p> </li></ul> <p>New York Edge is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.</p> <p>Disclaimer: The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position.
