<p>Duties</p> <p>East Maine School District 63 is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as Assistant Principal of Nelson School in Niles, Illinois, for the 2026-27 school year. Nelson has about 500 students attending the school, ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade. Additionally, Nelson offers a continuum of services, maintains high academic standards, and fosters a relationally and emotionally healthy learning environment.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will be an educator who demonstrates:</p> <ul> <li>Success in teaching and leadership roles. </li><li>Minimum of four years of successful elementary school classroom teaching preferred. </li><li>Effective communication, instructional leadership, planning, and organizational skills. </li><li>Cultural competence and a strong commitment to equity and inclusion. </li><li>High expectations for self and others, consistently backed by follow-through. </li><li>Proven record of student-centered, people-focused leadership. </li><li>Integrity, empathy, collaboration, and approachability. </li><li>Sound judgment, a practical and empathetic approach, and the ability to foster a culture of achievement and respect. </li><li>Supervise special education and related services staff </li><li>Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative </li><li>Documented history of success </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Preferred Experience: Prior successful experience in teaching, instructional coaching, assistant principal, or central office administration.</p> <p>Candidates must possess or have the ability to obtain the Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License General Administrative Endorsement or Principal Endorsement.</p> <p>Salary/Benefits</p> <p>The salary range for the position is $96,000 to $106,000, accompanied by a competitive benefits package.</p> <p>Board-paid Teacher Retirement</p> <ul> <li>Family health, dental, and vision insurance </li><li>Tuition reimbursement </li><li>Generous paid time off within a 260-day work year </li></ul> <p>How to Apply</p> <p>www.jointeamd63.org</p> <p>(Submission Deadline: May 11, 2026)</p> <p>This is a rolling search.
