<p>An opportunity to Inspire, Challenge, and Empower!</p> <p>Posting Information: We are currently hiring for a School Nurse for Shelton School District for the 2025-2026 school year. Open until filled.</p> <p>Interview Process: If selected for an interview, you will be invited to complete an Asynchronous Virtual Interview. Candidates chosen for a second round interview will participate in an in-person interviews at a date to be determined.</p> <p>Schedule: 1.0 FTE</p> <p>Location: Shelton High School</p> <p>Salary: $64,664 - $119,032 annually, depending on experience and education.</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Benefits: 12 sick leave days of which 6 can be used for personal leave each school year; 5 days bereavement leave per school year; health insurance benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) including medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance. Retirement through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS); other fringe benefits as allowed under the Shelton Education Association (SEA) Collective Bargaining Agreement.</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The School Nurse position supports the School District's Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plans by assessing the health needs of the students; developing emergency care plans and individual health care plans; providing care for ill, injured, and medically fragile children; identifying health problems that require referral for proper treatment; promoting health and safety; ensuring that District health care practices comply with the law; training unlicensed assistive personnel to manage health care needs in the nurse's absence; teaching students how to care for their own health; and serving as a health care resource to staff.</p> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science in Nursing </li><li>Valid Washington State Registered Nurse License </li><li>Washington State ESA School Nurse Certification </li><li>Valid Washington State Driver's License and evidence of insurance </li><li>CPR/First Aid/AED Certificates </li><li>Ability to pass a Federal criminal background check. </li><li>Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility preferred </li><li>The skills and training necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. </li><li>Ability and willingness to learn and implement new strategies and techniques. </li><li>Possession of excellent communication skills including active listening and two-way communication. </li><li>Ability and willingness to maintain an upbeat, positive, and collaborative demeanor. </li><li>Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality and tact in all aspects of employment. <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assesses the physical and emotional health of students, identifying needs, developing, and implementing plans to address those needs, and evaluating the outcomes. </li><li>Collaborates with students, families, health care providers, and/or other agencies to obtain needed information and interventions, complying with legal requirements. </li><li>Develops and implements individual health care plans and emergency care plans with input from families and/or health care providers. </li><li>Administers first aid, medications, and specialized medical treatments to ill, injured, and medically fragile students, and teaches unlicensed assistive personnel the same. </li><li>Monitors students' health concerns, refers to those requiring further medical attention or counseling, and conducts follow-up as needed. </li><li>Coordinates and implements health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, BMI, blood pressure, dental, etc.) to identify individual student health concerns and to assess the health status of the district. </li><li>Conducts site assessments of health and safety issues, building accessibility, emergency preparedness, custodial practices, etc., and provides recommendations for improving safety and accessibility. </li><li>Maintains confidential and accurate files, documents, and electronic health records on behalf of the student, submits health data to the state, and provides for appropriate archiving required by law. </li><li>Participates in meetings (e.g., multidisciplinary assessment teams, health counseling, crisis intervention, IEPs, 504s, etc.) to convey or receive information, assess student health status, advocate for the health rights of students, and/or making recommendation for individualized education programs. </li><li>Reports students with contagious diseases to local public health authorities to limit spread. </li><li>Reports incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining students' personal safety, a positive learning environment, and adhering to pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws. </li><li>Teaches students in various settings (health room, classroom, after school activities, etc.) about health, healthy lifestyles, and taking care of the body. </li><li>Provides health information to students, families, staff, and the public. </li><li>Responds to inquiries from staff, students, families, clinicians, etc., providing information, referrals, and follow-up care as needed. </li><li>Trains personnel that work directly with students' health needs (e.g., administering medications, specialized procedures, emergency procedures, tube feedings, catheterizations, etc.) to ensure that district personnel have the necessary knowledge to perform their functions in compliance with district, state and federal requirements. </li><li>Transports supplies and equipment to school sites as needed. </li><li>Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. </li><li>Conducts and documents monthly system checks of AED units. </li><li>Maintains a list of personnel authorized to use AED units. </li><li>Attends trainings and meetings as directed or appropriate. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul>
