<p>We are seeking a Process Engineer in our Newark, Delaware facility where we produce ceramic composite materials and manufacture products from these advanced materials for the thermal management, defense, industrial, optics and semiconductor industries. This position will develop, sustain, and improve manufacturing processes for various components produced from at least one of our segments of unique materials</p> <p>Primary Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Process Development: Apply engineering principles to sustain and improve current manufacturing processes </li><li>Optimization: Monitor, optimize and streamline manufacturing processes including production flow, manpower requirements, assembly methods and production equipment. Continuously analyze and improve processes to improve yield, enhance productivity, reduce waste, and lower costs. </li><li>New Production Introduction: Lead the introduction of new products into the process, ensuring smooth transitions from prototype to full-scale production. </li><li>Tooling and Equipment: Select and implement appropriate tooling and equipment for operations, ensuring compatibility and efficiency. </li><li>Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality control standards and procedures to ensure products meet or exceed specifications. Monitor manufacturing areas to proactively assess product quality and ensure compliance with ISO guidelines and procedures </li><li>Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to processes, equipment, and tooling. </li><li>Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of processes, including work instructions, process flows, and control plans. </li><li>Collaboration: Using Lean/Kaizen methods, monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from databases, hard copies and other technical and manufacturing personnel </li><li>Training: Provide training and support to production staff on best practices. </li><li>Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall manufacturing performance. Using Lean/Kaizen methods, monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from databases, hard copies and other technical and manufacturing personnel </li></ul> <p>Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Material Science Engineering preferred </li><li>Minimum 3 years of process engineering experience in a similar industry. </li><li>Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Experience using materials processing equipment such as furnaces, ovens, programmable controllers, powder mixing, foundry tools, etc. </li><li>Experience with materials characterization tools and methods for microscopy, chemistry, structural properties, thermal properties, etc. </li><li>Experience with inspection equipment, including CMM, hand tools, visual tools, etc. </li><li>Working knowledge of design, inspection and process control software (CAD, CMM, PLC) </li><li>Working knowledge of data analysis tools (SPC, MiniTab and DoE) </li><li>Experience with problem solving and resolution (8D, fishbone, etc.) </li><li>Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working with others </li><li>Hands-on and very direct approach to problem solving </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills </li><li>Experience with networked PC based computer systems (MS Office, spreadsheets, data bases, graphics, Email, MRP systems, etc.) </li><li>Experience in ceramic fabrication preferred </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Commitment to continuous improvement </li><li>Proactively takes actions to address customer needs and issues. </li><li>Regularly works independently with minimal supervision to achieve goals and objectives. </li><li>Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Shopfloor, laboratory, and office environments. </li><li>Occasional travel may be required. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. </li><li>Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility. </li><li>Walk of uneven and slippery surfaces </li><li>Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. </li></ul> <p>Safety Requirements</p> <p>All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
