<p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The incumbent is the clinical educator for a program or area of clinical practice. As an RN Clinical Educator for Perioperative Services, the Nurse Educator functions as an expert clinician in the above arena. They are responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating patient-specific and population-based programs of care and associated competencies for patient care staff. The Educator provides expert knowledge and skill in a specialized area of practice to other nurses and the multidisciplinary health care team. They serve as a leader, consultant, mentor, and change agent to achieve quality cost-effective outcomes. They have the ability and responsibility to communicate within and across the system to affect improved patient outcomes. The Educator has a responsibility to generate and evaluate evidence based practice through innovative evidence-based interventions, best practice guidelines and modification of professional standards, organizational policies that direct the care of nursing professionals and other providers to improve patient outcomes. The Educator functions include observing direct clinical practice , including assessment, and evaluating outcomes, teaching, as well as clinical competency development and assessment. The Educator works in partnership with the department management team. The Educator must role model the following role-based competencies: critical thinking, nursing judgments, clear communication and collaborative teamwork.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum:</p> <ul> <li>Five (5) years of clinical experience in perioperative services </li><li>Current California RN License </li><li>BSN or equivalent experience and education </li><li>Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) </li><li>Current CNOR certification required within 6 months of hire </li><li>Skills: </li><li>Current nursing techniques, principles, and practices. </li><li>Advanced perioperative nursing. </li><li>Regulatory/ accreditation agency standards. </li><li>Current evidence-based best practices. </li><li>Effective oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Staff development and needs assessment techniques. </li><li>Interpersonal relationship skills. </li><li>Current trends and issues in nursing. </li><li>Stress control techniques. </li><li>Problem-solving skills. </li><li>Organizational and prioritization skills. </li><li>CQI and QA methodologies. </li><li>Computer skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Previous education and/or leadership experience highly preferred </li></ul> <p>Overview</p> <p>Built in 1973, Dignity Health Methodist Hospital of Sacramento is committed to providing daily excellence in health care for residents of Sacramento's southern suburbs, including the Elk Grove, Wilton, and Galt communities.
