We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.</p> <p>Day/Night Rotation including weekends and holidays required.</p> <p>Supportive and engaged nursing leadership and team!</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <ul> <li>Supports independent nursing practice of professional nurses through collaborative, consultative, and role modeling activities. </li><li>Analyzes clinical and non-clinical variables to influence, supervise, manage, or oversee patient care needs and predict and manage responses. </li><li>Provides expert consultation within their specialty area at the unit, program, service, administrative, and community level(s) including, but not limited to, the Boston practices, networks, and satellites. </li><li>Identifies current trends in health care and their implication for nursing practice. </li><li>Promotes the attainment of the goals of the patient/family plan of care. </li><li>Applies new technology, nursing theories, research findings and experiential knowledge to improve patient/family health care outcomes and to assist in the development of nursing practice as applicable. </li><li>Responds to change in clinical practice by planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating guidelines, protocols and standards in collaboration with clinicians and other members of the health care team. </li><li>Identifies and recommends interventions regarding ethical issues in patient/family care and guides staff and other providers in application of ethical concepts to address patient care issues. </li><li>Applies innovative approaches to solving complex problems. </li><li>Acts as a content resource to colleagues, patient/families, and others as identified. </li><li>Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of the consultative process. </li><li>Provide direct patient care as applicable. </li><li>Initiates, facilitates, coordinates, and manages interdisciplinary collaboration for the purposes providing direct care of the patient and family. </li><li>Participates in the attainment of the goals of the patient and family. </li><li>Education - Plans and delivers relevant staff and patient education to nurses and other members of the health care team on matters regarding plan of care of the patient and family. </li><li>Identifies learning needs and develops and implements programs for patient education within the area of specialization. </li><li>Supports, participates, and contributes to educational programs for clinical and support staff both locally and across the larger organization. </li><li>Facilitates the acquisition of advanced clinical skills in staff nurses and students through role modeling, practice, and consultation in the clinical setting. </li><li>Research and Evidence-Based Practice - Actively participates in research and evidence-based practice activities that will positively affect patient care and patient care outcomes. </li><li>Uses nursing theories, research findings and evidence-based practice to plan, design, evaluate nursing practice and to generate researchable clinical problems. </li><li>Promotes staff and student utilization of the research process. </li><li>Participates in and supports research. </li><li>Utilizes scientific method in collecting data on clinical practice issues. </li><li>Initiates, participates in and continually evaluates quality assurance and performance improvement activities for evaluation of structure, process and outcome criteria as it relates to clinical practice. Identifies improvement opportunities, designs and plans programs for improvement and implements programs in the clinical environment. </li><li>Professional Development - Demonstrates accountability for ongoing personal/professional development. </li><li>Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current nursing and health care practices. </li><li>Identifies own learning needs and goals and designs a plan to meet them. </li><li>Takes responsibilities for leadership and participation on committees and task forces of the Department of Nursing, MGH at large, and across MGB. </li><li>Participates in activities that foster peer support and networking. </li><li>Fulfills professional role through involvement in professional organization activities, presentations, and publications. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred</p> <p>Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?</p> <p>No</p> <p>Licenses and Credentials</p> <p>Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Massachusetts- VA-BC or CRNI preferred</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>Clinical nursing experience 1-3 year required</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment. </li><li>Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information. </li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology. </li><li>Excellent verbal and communication skills. </li><li>Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients. </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Details (if applicable)</p> <ul> <li>The IV Therapy team at MGH is a highly skilled group of nursing professionals who provide a key clinical service to our patients. </li><li>Members of the health care team collaborate to achieve the universal goal of safe, effective, and appropriate infusion therapy and vascular access. </li><li>Nurses perform independent nursing interventions related to infusion therapy and vascular access using appropriate clinical reasoning, nursing judgment, and critical decision-making skills. </li><li>Primary response team for vascular access needs including intraosseous insertions during rapid responses and codes. </li><li>RN's are highly valued by the staff nurses whom they support and partner with. </li><li>In 1940, MGH's Ada Plumer was the first nurse to become an IV Therapist to perform the practice of intravenous cannulation. </li><li>Opportunities for growth and development. </li><li>Supportive nursing leadership, competitive pay and excellent benefits! </li><li>RN's on this team are happy and practice at the top of their license. </li><li>Staff benefit from continuing education called "Teaching Tuesdays"! </li><li>Staff in this subspecialty provide education to and build relationships throughout the hospital. </li><li>The depth of experience of many members of this team is significant. </li><li>Many members of the staff hold positions in various IV/Infusion/Vascular Access Nursing associations. </li></ul> <p>Remote Type</p> <p>Onsite</p> <p>Work Location</p> <p>80 Blossom Street</p> <p>Scheduled Weekly Hours</p> <p>39</p> <p>Employee Type</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Work Shift</p> <p>Rotating (United States of America)</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>The General Hospital Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
