You will shape culture, strengthen compliance, build trust with operators and supervisors, and partner directly with plant leadership on decisions that affect people, production, and safety outcomes.</p> <p>If you're energized by being on the floor, leading diverse technical teams, and driving real-world EH&S performance - this role was built for you.</p> <p>What You'll Lead</p> <p>Direct Team Leadership</p> <p>You will lead three critical EH&S functions:</p> <ul> <li>Occupational Health ? Registered Occupational Health Nurse </li><li>Safety & Lead Abatement ? EH&S Supervisor (janitorial/lead dust control) </li><li>Environmental / Air Quality ? Senior Air Quality Engineer </li></ul> <p>This team spans medical, environmental, and safety domains - giving you broad influence across the operation.</p> <p>Core Responsibilities</p> <p>On-the-Floor Safety Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Walk production areas daily to identify hazards, coach supervisors, and reinforce safe behaviors </li><li>Maintain strong visibility with operators, leads, and plant leadership </li></ul> <p>Environmental Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Lead programs for hazardous waste (Title 22), RCRA, stormwater/wastewater, spill response </li><li>Support and oversee air permitting and regulatory reporting </li><li>Prepare for inspections and act as the environmental point of contact for regulators </li></ul> <p>Industrial Hygiene & Occupational Health</p> <ul> <li>Oversee vendor-managed IH programs (air sampling, exposure monitoring, BLL trends) </li><li>Direct medical surveillance and occupational health programs through the onsite nurse </li><li>Ensure proper respiratory protection and PPE standards </li></ul> <p>Safety Program Oversight</p> <ul> <li>Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions </li><li>Manage JHAs, hazard assessments, PPE program, safety training, and toolbox talks </li><li>Oversee lead-dust abatement and facility housekeeping standards </li></ul> <p>Operational Partnership</p> <ul> <li>Work directly with the Plant Manager on escalations, risk assessments, and potential stop-work decisions </li><li>Support audits, leadership reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives </li></ul> <p>Tools & Equipment You'll Use</p> <ul> <li>Respiratory protection (required in designated areas) </li><li>IH vendor platforms for exposure/sampling analytics </li><li>Environmental management systems (air, waste, water tracking) </li><li>Safety observation and reporting tools </li><li>Standard PPE: hearing protection, safety glasses, boots </li></ul> <p>What You Bring</p> <ul> <li>8-10+ years of EH&S leadership experience in manufacturing </li><li>Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, RCRA/Title 22, air permitting, and Cal/OSHA </li><li>Experience in high-hazard environments (chemical, metals, battery, aerospace plating, heavy industrial) </li><li>Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams </li><li>Confident communicator with a track record of influencing operations </li><li>Comfortable spending the majority of your time on the production floor </li></ul> <p>Certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are a plus.</p> <p>Compensation & Benefits</p> <ul> <li>Base Salary: $130,000-$150,000 </li><li>Stretch Range: Up to ~$160,000 </li><li>Bonus: 15-20% </li><li>Relocation Assistance: Available </li><li>Sign-On Bonus: For qualified relocation candidates </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>Onsite, high-hazard manufacturing across two facilities </li><li>Exposure to lead, acid, heat, and industrial process operations </li><li>Daily walking and ladder climbing required </li><li>PPE and respirator use required in designated areas </li></ul> <p>Ready to Lead With Impact?</p> <p>If you're a hands-on, operationally minded EH&S leader who thrives on building culture, elevating compliance, and driving improvement through real presence on the floor, we want to hear from you.</p> <p>Apply today or contact our recruiting team for immediate consideration.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Permanent position based out of Santa Fe Springs, CA.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $160000.00/yr.</p> <p>Trojan Battery Company provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee health, financial security, and work-life balance.
