<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (1 to 5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Learn more.</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</p> <p>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</p> <p>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</p> <p>Serves as the Chief of Anesthesia, within VACT. Performs direct medical care in their specialty and assists the Chief of Staff in supervising the Anesthesia Services. The selected Chief must be Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesia and have authoritative intensive knowledge in the area of Anesthesia. Selectee will supervise other Anesthesiologists, and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists within the section, along with the following:</p> <ul> <li>Is responsible for on-call services (including nights, weekends and holidays). </li><li>Facilitates patient access to medical care by recommending appropriate referrals to other health care providers in accordance with applicable policies and regulations. </li><li>The position exercises full operational responsibility as first level supervisor. </li><li>Plans and adjust daily assignments for supervised staff assigned to the clinic and operating rooms. </li><li>Evaluates competencies of newly assigned personnel and others as required and orients staff to policies and procedures of the clinic and operating room. </li><li>Conducts staff meetings and coordinates in-service training. Executes all facility and departmental policies. </li><li>May be required to complete end of day workload reports and automated data system reports. </li><li>Promotes sound management principles, initiates and/or recommends personnel and salary actions, develops employee work standards, observes and evaluates employee performance, identifies training needs and ensures that training is provided. </li><li>Initiates and maintains anesthesia staff performance appraisals utilizing VA required applications. </li><li>Counsel employees and take disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands, referring to more serious complaints to a higher-level supervisor. </li><li>Investigates and resolves informal staff complaints and grievances. </li><li>Approves and disapproves leave and as Chief, is responsible for approving anesthesia timecards. </li><li>Provides clinical counseling as needed. </li><li>Serves as a role model emphasizing caring leadership. </li><li>Provide technical oversight; interview candidates for subordinate position; and recommend hiring, promotion, or reassignments. </li><li>Initiates FPPE's/OPPE's and Market Pay reviews for anesthesia providers. </li><li>Responsible for initial and renewal of clinical privileges for anesthesia providers. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: 8am to 4:30pm, Monday - Friday</p>
