It really speaks to our mission and why people join BWC and then retire from BWC. </li></ul> <p>If you are interested in helping BWC grow, please click this link to read more, and then come back to this job posting to submit your application!</p> <p>This position is considered a field position and will not be required to report into a physical office on daily basis but based on operational need.</p> <p>What You'll Be Doing:</p> <ul> <li>Performs complex ergonomic surveys and investigations for the purpose of drawing complex scientific and technical conclusions from a multiplicity of perplexing industrial risk hazards. </li><li>Interprets varied complex technical topics and applies advanced methodologies related to biomechanics, physiology, other human factors and engineering technologies to derive engineering project controls in the prevention of injury and illness loses. </li><li>Identifies applicable regulatory and non-regulatory standards during inspection and evaluation of existing safety program to ensure compliance. </li><li>Prepares written and oral reports of investigation and sensitive findings presented to all skill level audiences including labor, engineering and the most senior management; counsels with employers, union representative and management/labor organization top officials to obtain, provide, interpret, or explain information for administrative policy development and/or negotiation; advises and explain implementation of measures and large-scale engineering changes required for control of losses. </li><li>Establishes and maintains contact with safety consultants, engineering staff, all levels of management to provide service. </li></ul> <p>To Qualify, You Must Clearly Demonstrate:</p> <p>Completion of undergraduate core program in industrial engineering or physical/natural sciences AND 12 mos. exp. in private sector or other governmental agency performing same or comparable duties of Ergonomist 2, 24512 AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in technical writing AND valid driver's license.</p> <ul> <li>Or 12 mos. exp. as Ergonomist 2, 24512 AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in technical writing AND valid driver's license. </li><li>Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. </li></ul> <p>Job Skills: Environmental Services</p> <p>Major Worker Characteristics:</p> <p>Knowledge of: Industrial & construction safety practices; public relations; human relations; BWC policies & procedures<em>; interviewing tech.; industrial engineering; physical science (e.g., physics, chemistry) or engineering; ergonomics; state & fed. industrial safety standards, laws & regulations; BWC policies & procedures pertaining to industrial safety surveys</em>; investigation principles & techniques; technical writing; safety training. *</p> <p>Skills in: operating pc & computer software; skill in operating various testing equip. (e.g., heat stress meter, octave band analyzer, motion analysis equipment, inclinometer, light meter, velometer, sling psychrometer,)</p> <p>Ability to: deal with many variables & determine specific action; write complex tech. reports; read & record figures accurately; comprehend & record figures accurately; add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers; calculate fractions, decimals & percentages; use statistical analysis; recognize safety warning; comprehend simple sentence with common vocabulary; copy material accurately & recognize grammatical & spelling errors; complete routine forms; maintain accurate records; understand manuals & verbal instructions, tech. in nature; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports; proofread tech. materials, recognize errors & make corrections; use proper research methods in gathering data; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; ability to communicate effectively, orally & in writing; handle sensitive inquiries from employees, employers & union representatives pertaining to industrial safety/ergonomics issues.</p> <p>(*) Developed after employment.</p> <p>Unusual Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Non-standard work hours </li><li>Position requires travel (25% - 75%); therefore, persons occupying this position must be able to provide their own transportation and/or legally operate a state-owned vehicle. </li><li>Occasional overnight travel may be required; occasional extended work hours including second and third shift; frequent exposure to noise, dirt, temperature extremes, all industrial hazards and occasional toxic substances, caustics, carcinogens, frequent constrained and prolonged static work postures. </li></ul>
