<p>Join a High-Impact Finance Team in a Dynamic Municipal Setting</p> <p>The Town of Brookline is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and highly organized Assistant Treasurer to support the Treasurer/Collector and Finance Director in overseeing the Towns financial operations. This is a critical role that ensures the integrity of daily cash flow, account reconciliation, and municipal fund management.</p> <p>If youre skilled in accounting, treasury functions, and enjoy working with numbers in a public service environment, this is an excellent opportunity to grow your career in local government finance.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Manage daily municipal cash flow, initiate wire transfers, and issue manual checks as needed </li><li>Maintain and monitor daily cash sheets and bank account balances </li><li>Oversee preparation and disbursement of town payments based on Comptroller warrants </li><li>Balance monthly bank statements and follow up with departments on missing or incorrect reporting </li><li>Prepare and execute vendor check runs multiple times per week </li><li>Serve as a point of contact for taxpayers requiring special assistance or clarification </li><li>Communicate daily with banks regarding fund transfers, interest rates, stop payments, returned checks, and other transactions </li><li>Prepare refunds related to refuse or water services and sign retirement checks monthly </li><li>Assist with or lead financial special projects and reporting as requested by supervisors </li><li>Perform the duties of the Treasurer in their absence </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field </li><li>Experience: At least four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting or treasury experience; municipal experience preferred </li><li>Special Requirement: Must be bondable </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Deep understanding of treasury functions, public fund management, GAAP, and UMAS standards </li><li>Strong skills in financial software, spreadsheets, and accounting platforms </li><li>High proficiency in maintaining complex financial records and preparing detailed reports </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal </li><li>Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines under pressure </li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy </li></ul> <p>Why Work for Brookline?</p> <p>The Town of Brookline offers an inclusive, supportive work environment where public service meets professional excellence.
