<p>Maintenance Worker</p> <ul> <li>University of Valley Forge </li><li>University of Valley Forge Careers </li><li>Maintenance Worker </li></ul> <p>Maintenance Worker</p> <p>Job Title: Maintenance Worker</p> <p>Department: Facilities</p> <p>Position Type: Full- (40 hours per week) or Part-Time (less than 30 hours per week)</p> <p>Reports to:Maintenance Foreman</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>The Maintenance Worker at the University of Valley Forge is responsible to facilitate the mission of the University of Valley Forge by providing care, maintenance, and improvement of the physical infrastructure of the university. Maintenance Workers ensure that all campus facilities-including dormitories, administrative buildings, and other structures, and equipment and supplies-are maintained in optimal condition for safe, efficient, and effective use by students, faculty, staff, and visitors.</p> <p>This position requires a worker capable of performing a wide range of maintenance tasks, including general building repairs, plumbing, HVAC/boiler repairs, and minor electrical work. The Maintenance Worker will also participate in an on-call rotation to provide emergency response support in collaboration with the university's Security team after regular business hours.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p></p> </li><li>Mission of the University of Valley Forge <p></p> </li><li> <p>Fully support the mission of the University of Valley Forge.</p> </li><li> <p>Model the values of the University: Jesus is our Center, Students are our Focus, Progress is our Expectation, Excellence is our Pursuit, Teamwork is our Spirit, Servant Leadership is our Identity, and Community is our Calling.</p> </li><li> <p>General Facility Maintenance</p> </li><li> <p>Perform routine inspections and maintenance of university buildings to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Complete daily work orders related to repairs in dormitories, administrative offices, and academic spaces.</p> </li><li> <p>Repair or replace doors, windows, flooring, ceiling tiles, walls, and other structural components as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Plumbing and HVAC/Boiler Systems</p> </li><li> <p>Diagnose and repair plumbing issues, including leaks, clogged drains, and fixture replacements.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct maintenance and minor repairs on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and boilers to ensure optimal operation.</p> </li><li> <p>Electrical and Technical Tasks</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with basic electrical maintenance such as replacing lighting fixtures, ballasts, switches, and outlets.</p> </li><li> <p>Support minor technical and mechanical repairs related to facility operations and printing equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Emergency Response and On-Call Support</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation to respond to urgent repair needs, supporting the university's security team as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Address emergency facility issues promptly to minimize disruption and ensure safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Safety and Compliance</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with safety regulations and university policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and inspections.</p> </li><li> <p>Communication and Collaboration</p> </li><li> <p>Work collaboratively with other maintenance staff, administrative personnel, and residence life staff to coordinate maintenance efforts.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate effectively with university departments regarding project status and repair timelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Other</p> </li><li> <p>Maintenance Workers may be requested to perform other duties, such as groundskeeping or housekeeping when needed by the university.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintenance Workers will be required to attend departmental and occasional all-university meetings.</p> </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>A valid driver's license and able to be approved to drive university vehicles. </li><li>Working knowledge of chemicals, tools, and equipment used in housekeeping tasks. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Ability to follow written and oral instructions. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>Work both indoors and outdoors, in temperatures ranging from very cold to very hot. Physical activity is required the majority of the work day including lifting, bending, carrying, and moving equipment. Driving university vehicles on or off campus required. Occasional weekends and evening required when on call or when addressing emergencies.</p> <p>Spiritual Requirements</p> <p>All employees must be openly committed followers of Christ and sign the UVF Community Covenant.</p> <p>Qualifications and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Must supply and maintain basic personal tools (e.g., measuring tape, screwdrivers, pliers). </li><li>Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance needs outside of regular hours. </li><li>Positive, proactive attitude toward problem-solving and ability to look at challenges creatively. </li><li>Responsible, self-starter able to prioritize work and manage time with minimal supervision. </li><li>Possess a teachable, humble, good attitude and a desire to be part of a team committed to excellence. </li><li>A desire to grow personally, spiritually, and professionally, with an aptitude and interest in fulfilling the responsibilities outlined. </li></ul> <p>Pay is commensurate with experience and ability.</p> <p>The University</p> <p>The University of Valley Forge (UVF) is an accredited Christian university of the Arts, Sciences, and Professions located on a beautiful 100+ acre campus in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
