<p>Position Information</p> <p>Apply your EMT expertise to dispatch ambulances!</p> <p>Are you ready for the exciting world of being the real "first responder" for a medical emergency? The Honolulu Emergency Services Department, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division is seeking individuals with EMT background for two (2)Emergency Medical Technician III (Communications Center Coordinator) positions in the EMS dispatch center. You will be an integral part of the EMS team by receiving that first 911 call, assisting the callers by providing important pre-arrival life saving instructions, and dispatching an ambulance to respond to 911 emergency calls to administer pre-hospital emergency care. The information which you provide will assist in the coordination of emergency ambulance units responding to the accident or medical scene and could save a life.</p> <p>Although not required, familiarity with all areas of Oahu is highly desired to ensure appropriate resource allocation as you may be required to search and determine the correct address for the emergency scene or patient and assist EMS personnel who are unable to locate the emergency scene or patient.</p> <p>Special Working Conditions: Must be able to handle tasks in rapid succession, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, communicate clearly and calmly, and make sound decisions under stressful conditions. This position may be mobilized in the event of an emergency and may require work during or following natural disasters and other major events or incidents. Will be required to work rotating shifts and rotating days off, including weekend and holiday work. Current work shifts are 12:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.</p> <p>Apply today! Maintenance of these licenses/certifications is a condition of employment.</p> <p>Examination Process</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION: In addition to meeting the above minimum qualifications, your application will be further evaluated. Your score will be based on the quality and quantity of your education, experience and/or other related job requirements and competencies applicable to the position. Failure to provide sufficient information may result in your application being rejected or your receiving a lower score.</p> <p>EXAMINATION WEIGHT:</p> <p>Education and Experience Evaluation.....................100%</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT SUITABILITY:</p> <p>To determine the selectee's employment suitability for the position of Emergency Medical Technician III (Communications Center Coordinator), the Department of Human Resources will review criminal convictions, dismissals from employment, and separations from military service under other than honorable convictions.</p> <p>FINGERPRINTING REQUIREMENT: This position will be assigned to service the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC). Any employee with unescorted access to secured areas and equipment within the JTMC requires a fingerprint-based criminal history record check. Therefore, the selectee will be required to be fingerprinted as part of their employment suitability review. The Department of Human Resources will review fingerprint-based state and national criminal history record information from the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.</p>
