<p>This position involves intern-level health department work for the community healthy living initiative program focused on improving the health of Hamilton residents through nutritional education and increased physical exercise. The Intern will have the opportunity to be involved in various community out-reach projects within this program. The Intern will work with health and other city department personnel as well as various community partners to promote healthy eating habits, improving community wellness and physical activity. </p> <ul> <li> <p>Conduct Community Outreach: Partner with local organizations to spread awareness about proper nutrition, the benefits of regular physical activity and how to incorporate each into daily life.</p> </li><li> <p>Create Resources: Develop educational materials and online content related to nutrition and the benefits of physical activity.</p> </li><li> <p>Collecting Feedback and Data: Assessment of the nutritional needs of the community though surveys and work to identify barriers to physical exercise within the community. </p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate Programs: Measure the effectiveness of nutrition education and physical activity initiatives and suggest improvements.</p> </li><li> <p>May respond to telephone inquiries and provide information; may handle routine clerical functions for the work unit. </p> </li><li> <p>May gather, compile or display information. May be assigned to a research or information-gathering task. </p> </li><li> <p>Assists a supervisor on varied tasks of a more advanced nature. In technical fields, may be assigned to a particular project with responsibility for many steps within the project. </p> </li><li> <p>May perform diverse, clerical tasks and/or data entry. </p> </li><li> <p>Operates office equipment such as printer, calculator, or equipment specific to that department.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be willing to learn, to accept instructions and directions and to follow through by using learned knowledge. </p> </li><li> <p>Must be courteous with the public and with other employees. </p> </li><li> <p>Must adhere to established hours of work and guidelines for attendance, reporting of absences, or other office routines.</p> </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>This person should be registered in a program of cooperative education. That program must have logical relationship to the particular work tasks of the assignment. </p> </li><li> <p>The ability to 20 hours a week for six weeks.</p> </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Possession of a valid driver's license. </li></ul>
