We have set ambitious and rigorous goals to ensure that our students graduate prepared to transform our world, and we are always searching for educators who are deeply committed to our mission and the success of all students.</p> <p>This fall, we completed the rollout of the Career Academies of Danbury, designed to support high school students in their chosen area of interest, providing hands on, project based learning in a dedicated pathway, opportunities to engage in rich, internship opportunities with area businesses, and access to earning microcredentials in a chosen field. We are looking for the right educator to lead the Academy of Emerging Technologies and Entrepreneurship as our newest Academy Director. Located in our new building at Danbury High School - West, this is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone with a passion for technology and entrepreneurship and a commitment to a transformative model for secondary education. Join us to shape the future of student engagement and achievement in Danbury, with a focus on preparing students for a career in this fast moving growth area.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <p>Teaching and Learning Connected Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide leadership and direction for the Emerging Technology & Entrepreneurship Academy, including curriculum integration, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community/industry partnerships </li><li>Assists in the development and implementation of Danbury High School's annual School Improvement Plan that is data-driven, equity-focused, and aligned with district goals. </li><li>Work closely with the Executive Principal & Associate Principal of Instruction at Danbury High School to develop, implement, and monitor a more specific Academy Plan that reflects the goals of the DHS School Improvement Plan and the District's commitment to Danbury's Portrait of the Graduate. </li><li>Promote student achievement, high-quality instruction, and a nurturing school climate with a strong emphasis on social-emotional learning and restorative practices </li><li>Collaborate with district leaders to support Multilingual Learners and students with disabilities; actively engage in SRBI implementation and intervention strategies </li><li>Partner with families and the school community to foster meaningful engagement and communication </li><li>Be a leading force in creating partnerships with local businesses and secondary partners. </li></ul> <p>Operational Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>As its Director, lead all faculty and staff in supporting students in this specific Academy through daily management, operations and supervision. </li><li>Using your 092 certification, observe and evaluate all certified staff assigned to this Academy, in alignment with District performance expectations and in consultation with other educational leaders. </li><li>Support building operations, including student safety, facilities management, and coordination with custodial and security personnel </li><li>Monitor student attendance, discipline, and behavior interventions in alignment with board policy and best practices </li><li>Oversee student discipline as appropriate </li><li>Ensure accurate and timely submission of school-based records and reports </li><li>Oversee and participate in 504 meetings in partnership with special education staff </li><li>Have the ability to create an academy budget and monitor expenditures in conjunction with the overall DHS budget. </li><li>Assist with recruitment and hiring of high-quality and diverse staff. </li><li>Have the capacity to organize and facilitate regularly scheduled Advisor boards. </li><li>Serve as a collaborative member of the administrative team heading all 8 Academies. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent's designee </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Connecticut Intermediate Administrator (092) Certification required </li><li>35 years of exemplary teaching experience; prior leadership or administrative experience preferred </li><li>Experience and/or demonstrated expertise in pathways connected to the Academy of Emerging Technologies and Entrepreneurship preferred. </li><li>A track record of strong academic achievement as a teacher or leader, and a desire to improve outcomes for all students </li><li>Demonstrated success working with diverse student populations; urban district experience strongly preferred </li><li>Strong data analysis skills and understanding of formative and summative assessment tools </li><li>Familiarity with SRBI, restorative practices, and inclusive instructional strategies </li><li>Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills - bilingual preferred </li><li>Ability to foster a safe, positive, and inclusive school environment </li><li>Commitment to equity, continuous improvement, and culturally responsive leadership </li></ul> <p>Wages and Work Year:</p> <p>Commencing with the 2026-27 school year, this is an academic year (206-day) position as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Danbury School Administrators Association (DSAA) and the Danbury Board of Education.</p> <p>Annual salary range: $153,513 to $169,864, commensurate with experience, as provided by the collective bargaining agreement.
