<p>The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) at the GS-8 level serves in an advanced developmental capacity at the full performance level. The DRT performs a substantially full range of duties in general radiology. The DRT receives guidance and directions regarding unfamiliar or unusual situations for more complex patient issues. Work is primarily performed in the general radiology Section of the Imaging Department.</p> <ul> <li>The DRT (Radiology) primary responsibility is to perform radiographic duties in the general section of the imaging Department. </li><li>The technologist requires specific knowledge and training in the location, appearance, and function of the various major and minor systems susceptible to radiological illumination. </li><li>Interprets examination requests accurately, understands the functioning and inter-relationship of the various organs and uses the methods and techniques that will identify organs appearing on the digital display monitor. </li><li>At this level, the incumbent performs most procedures including complex patient examinations under the direction of radiologist, other medical officers, and senior staff members. </li><li>The incumbent may be called upon to assist in performing procedures in other specialty modalities. </li><li>The incumbent must be knowledgeable in Computerized Radiography (CR) readers, CDROMS, and Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS). </li><li>Other duties include scheduling exams to ensure maximum usage of equipment and ensures ability to accommodate emergencies exams. </li><li>Practices radiation safety, maintains files and records, properly identifies patient images. </li><li>Must be continuously on the alert to the patient's condition and other disorders; reactions on the part of the patient require immediate attention so that harm does not come to the patient. </li><li>At the full performance level, the incumbent can proctor DRT students from the UPSTATE school of allied health professionals. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: 4:00pm to 12:00am (midnight) with rotating weekends and Holidays and 8:30am to 5:00pm with rotating weekends and Holidays.</p> <p>Telework: Not Available</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position</p> <p>Functional Statement #:</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p>
