<p>Primary Purpose of the Organization:</p> <p>Fayetteville State University College of Education (COE) is committed to educating and preparing individuals at the undergraduate and graduate levels for professions in the fields of education, research, and service. The COE prepares the education professional as a facilitator of learning through the development of cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning patterns. The COE provides leadership in teacher education throughout the region, state, and nation. Assisting in executing the mission of the COE are four academic departments: Educational Leadership and School Administration; Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Grades, Reading and Special Education; Health, Physical and Secondary Education and support units, including the Curriculum Learning Resource Center, the Office of Teacher Education, Data and Assessment, Professional Development School Initiative, and the Early Childhood Learning Center.</p> <p>Primary Purpose of the Position:</p> <p>The Office of Teacher Education handles pre-service activities, seminars, and field experiences for candidates enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs associated with all majors and programs of education. This office supports the high-quality programs of the COE through field experiences and clinical experiences (student teaching/internships), ongoing assessments, professional development, and other opportunities to ensure that all graduates meet high professional standards. It ensures that all teacher education programs meet state, federal, and accrediting body requirements.</p> <p>The Director:</p> <ul> <li>Reports to the Associate Dean and works closely with department chairs, PDS Coordinator, and program coordinators, specifically placing candidates in field placement and clinical experiences, and processing admissions to teacher education and Clinical Experience. </li><li>Collaborates with the PDS Coordinator to monitor and document all clinical placements for each teacher education candidate throughout their progression in the program. </li><li>Assists in developing, coordinating, and maintaining Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with partner institutions to support programmatic and institutional collaborations. </li><li>Serves as the liaison to the public schools in addressing field and clinical experience placements, along with the PDS Coordinator. </li><li>Provides administrative follow-up on all field and clinical experiences </li><li>Monitors candidate performance during clinical experiences through on-site visits and ongoing communication with Clinical Educators (P-12 and EPP). </li><li>Teaches the Professional Education Seminar; and assists the Clinical Educators (EPP)/University Supervisors in scoring the Leadership Projects. </li><li>Conducts information sessions for clinical experience candidates and clinical educators. </li><li>Serves as the Licensure Officer for the College of Education by interpreting licensure policies and procedures, processing applications for teacher licenses for candidates and faculty through the NC Department of Public Instruction Licensure Website, completing Residency Forms, completing verification forms, writing letters requested from completers, LEAs and other parties, disseminating program information, and representing the College of Education to a variety of public agencies, including the Department of Public Instruction and other key stakeholders supporting the teaching profession in North Carolina. </li><li>Serves as the Regional Director for the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program. </li><li>Maintains current Clinical Experience, Residency, and Student Characteristics files on all program admits and responds to reports, including Title II and IHE, as requested by the State Department of Public Instruction, other education departments, and the COE Dean's Office. </li><li>Monitors the stipend and CEU process for Clinical Educators (P-12). </li><li>Serves as the chairperson for the Teacher Education Committee (TEC). </li><li>Serves on academic related COE and university committees. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>A master's degree in education is required. </li><li>A valid current NC Teacher or School Administration License. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of three to five years of progressive leadership experience in P-12 and/or higher education environments, demonstrating an escalating level of responsibility and influence. Substantial experience creating online and hybrid courses, applying innovative teaching strategies, and aligning academic standards with course objectives to meet educational excellence. </li><li>Have a history of building partnerships and engaging with the community to enhance P-12 and/or college goals, coupled with a commitment to mentoring faculty and students. </li><li>Superior communication skills and visionary leadership that can adapt to the changing educational landscape. </li></ul>
