Relocation assistance available.</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY: The Director, Procurement directs and executes upon Company-wide procurement strategy and programs, establishes and monitors company procedures to coordinate the procurement, and receiving activities for Thorne Research Inc. The Director, Procurement works within current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) as well as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best Supply Chain practices to ensure that materials purchased by Thorne are of acceptable quality and quantity and are obtained in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing best-in-class sourcing strategies, negotiating favorable supplier agreements, and optimizing the supply chain for cost-effectiveness and efficiency. This includes identifying and qualifying new suppliers, managing existing vendor relationships, and ensuring quality and compliance.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Defines procurement strategy, supports programs, and processes to ensure that materials purchased by Thorne are of acceptable quality and quantity, and are obtained in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. </li><li>Oversees and directs the daily operations of the Company's purchasing and outsourcing activities. Coordinates activities between Purchasing, Planning, Inventory Control, Warehouse and Receiving departments. </li><li>Reviews Raw Material and Materials Required for Operations (MRO) availability, cost, lead-time, market trends, pricing, and forecasts to obtain necessary raw materials with a goal of lowest total cost, highest quality of ownership for Thorne. Reduces on-hand inventories to as near just-in-time (JIT) standards as practical with an emphasis on overall inventory cost reductions. </li><li>Develops and enhances supplier relationships, examine supplier qualifications, and purchasing & freight terms. </li><li>Establishes and maintains ongoing vendor qualification procedure and hold vendors accountable to acceptable performance standards. Liaison with suppliers and contract manufacturers as required to ensure timely product delivery to specifications. Drafts application and technical oversight of existing and future SOPs as they relate to materials and material movements within Thorne. </li><li>Negotiates short-term and long-term purchasing contracts to ensure the availability of raw material supply. </li><li>Develops and provides ongoing procurement metrics, KPI's, and implements new programs for RFQ's. </li><li>Builds and leads a highly performing team, secure the best talent, develop and strengthen staff and future leaders, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback. </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES / PROFICIENCIES</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required. A minimum of 10+ years of business experience with a demonstrated record of success, a sound working knowledge of procurement practices and associated processes. </li><li>Comprehensive understanding of the nutritional supplement or food industry, suppliers, contract manufacturers and other relevant providers of goods and services. </li><li>Experience and outstanding performance in leading and transforming enterprise-wide procurement efforts. </li><li>Demonstrates ability to develop and deliver upon business objectives and to measure and monitor performance. </li><li>Comfort with and extensive experience interacting with others in and outside the Company, particularly in manufacturing, QA/QC, materials planning and management and purchasing roles. </li><li>Supervise and manage others, delegate appropriately, and follow up on work assignments. </li><li>Assess talent, hire new staff, conduct formal and informal performance assessments, and address employee nonperformance. </li><li>Develops and delivers on assigned objectives within requested timeframes. </li><li>Works cooperatively with managers in other departments. </li><li>Possesses good interpersonal skills and engages others in a positive manner. </li><li>Possesses strong attention to detail. </li><li>Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Raises issues and concerns promptly. </li><li>Documents and presents work in a clear and concise manner. </li><li>Works independently with minimal direction and oversight. </li><li>Possesses knowledge of the computers and software required to accomplish the Responsibilities of the job. </li></ul> <p>What We Offer:</p> <p>At Thorne, we offer employees the chance to work with great people on exciting projects, with opportunity for growth.
