<p>The Department of Statistics at Western Michigan University seeks candidates for a tenure-track, 1.0 FTE, academic year, Assistant/Associate Professor position beginning August 15, 2026 on its main campus in Kalamazoo, MI. This position teaching position has additional research and service responsibilities.</p> <p>Major Duties</p> <ul> <li>Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and data science. </li><li>Advising students. </li><li>Conducting research. </li><li>Publishing in peer-reviewed journals. </li><li>Writing and submitting grant proposals, and service. </li><li>Research and service responsibilities. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Applied Statistics or Data Science by December 31, 2026, from an accredited institution. </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Potential for teaching excellence. </li><li>Potential to develop and maintain an outstanding research program in statistics or data science related methodology. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ability to teach a variety of statistics classes at various levels. </li><li>Expertise in statistical methodology. </li><li>Teaching experience as a sole instructor of record. </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to supporting the success of students from underrepresented groups. </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <ul> <li>Qualified candidates need to apply online at https://www.wmujobs.org.
