<p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>This position is responsible for organizing, supervising, and supporting athletic programs within the Athletics Division. This role involves overseeing leagues, coordinating personnel, maintaining compliance with regulations, and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Organize and supervise assigned athletic programs, activities, and staff within the Athletics Division. </li><li>Plan and manage comprehensive athletic programming including team assignments, game schedules, and tournament coordination. </li><li>Ensure compliance with league by-laws and rules; recommend updates or changes as needed. </li><li>Serve as a primary point of contact for participants, parents, coaches, and the general public, responding promptly to inquiries and concerns. </li><li>Develop and conduct coaching clinics; oversee player evaluations and provide feedback to improve league operations. </li><li>Assist with player registration and manage team assignments through a draft process. </li><li>Conduct seasonal meetings with coaches to communicate league information and expectations and provide coaches with regular email updates throughout the season. </li><li>Assist the Director with bid preparations for uniforms, equipment, and photography servies. </li><li>Place orders for necessary equipment, uniforms, awards and other materials. </li><li>Regularly inspect playing facilities; recommend improvements and submit maintenance work orders as needed. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, preferred; </li><li>Two (2) years' experience in the recreation field, required; </li><li>Two (2) years supervision experience, required; </li><li>Any combination of education and experience totaling four years may be considered; </li><li>CPR and First Aid certification required within 90 days of hire; and </li><li>Valid South Carolina Driver's License. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of personnel management and supervision. </li><li>Knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of public recreation, psychology, and sociology. </li><li>Knowledge of department policies and procedures. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to formulate short and long-term organizational plans. </li><li>Ability to multi-task. </li><li>Ability to perform CPR. </li><li>Ability to motivate people. </li><li>Ability to provide customer service to include problem solving and dispute resolution when necessary. </li><li>Ability to prepare and manage departmental budgets. </li><li>Ability to operate field marking equipment, scoreboards, and small hand tools. </li><li>Ability to use computers and various software programs, to include Word and Excel. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <ul> <li>Flexible schedule required; includes evenings and weekends depending on programming needs. </li><li>Work is performed in an office environment, indoor and outdoor athletic facilities. </li><li>Seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, and respiratory hazards (e.g., dust, dirt, etc.) </li></ul> <p>SAFETY</p> <p>Employee is responsible for adhering to all safety procedures and regulations established by the Department, the City and all State and Federal organizations. Any safety concern should be reported to a supervisor immediately.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>Constantly requires hearing, vision, talking, and fine dexterity. Frequently requires handling/grasping, sitting, standing, and walking/running. Occasionally requires carrying, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, twisting, and bending. Medium strength demands include exerting up to up to 20 pounds frequently and 20-50 pounds occasionally.</p> <p>MENTAL DEMANDS</p> <p>Frequently requires time pressures, frequent change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, irregular schedule/overtime, and working closely with others as part of a team.
