<p>Legal Entity</p> <p>Orrville Hospital Foundation</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Patient Service Rep is responsible for providing excellent front-desk support, including greeting patients, verifying demographics and insurance at every visit, answering phones, scheduling appointments, sending faxes, and relaying messages to ensure efficient office operations and exceptional patient service.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent. </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Comfortable communicating via in-person or via the phone. </li><li>Detail oriented. </li><li>Adaptability to changing work environment or needs. </li><li>General computer knowledge. </li><li>Basic typing skills. </li><li>Function independently and accurately with frequent interruptions. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities & Expectations</p> <ul> <li>Greets patients in a pleasant and professional manner. </li><li>Verifies demographics and insurance over the telephone or in person. </li><li>Verifies and updates demographics and insurance at every appointment. </li><li>Must update HIPAA forms and have patients sign all forms per office policy. </li><li>Must collect copays from patients. (see policy on money handling). </li><li>Must verify correct amount of cash in drawer upon opening and close out cash drawer in evening. </li><li>Must correctly schedule appointments at appropriate site. </li><li>Must notify appropriate staff when supplies are low for recording purposes. </li><li>Must run fee tickets, day sheets, and SOF forms. </li><li>Monitor the waiting room for supplies and neatness. </li><li>Make follow-up appointments and assist with scheduling urgent referrals. </li><li>May need to post charges and co-pays. </li><li>May be asked to make patient appointment reminders. </li><li>Must answer phones in a timely and professional manner. </li><li>Must relay messages to patients in a timely manner. </li><li>Must chart accurately in patient's EHR. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by Practice Manager and/or Leads. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Variable start and end times for shifts- between 7:30am-5:00pm. </li><li>Typically, 4.5-day work weeks with 8-10 hour days. </li><li>Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day. </li><li>Cross training in all areas of the department is required. </li><li>Will spend majority of shift in front of a computer terminal entering data, using telephones, faxes, copiers, and printers. </li></ul> <p>Hazardous Exposure Category</p> <p>Category III - Includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood; body fluids or tissues (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone anywhere might encounter potential exposure to body fluids.)
