<p>Job Type:</p> <p>Staff</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The SEM Patrol Agent/Receptionist is primarily responsible for ensuring university guests & visitors experience and form a favorable first impression of Kansas City University. The Patrol Agent/Receptionist also works alongside SEM patrol officers by responding to emergencies and executes appropriate action when dealing with problems, incidents, and/or safety hazards or concerns, as well as maintains accurate and current records</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as primary contact for University visitors and dignitaries during business hours </li><li>Effectively operates the University's telephone system </li><li>Dispatches officers to calls using the KCU radio system </li><li>Sends emergency Alerts & information </li><li>Helps ensure the safety and security of the primary access point to the University. </li><li>Handles administrative tasks, as needed </li><li>Armed position </li><li>Represents department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization and department </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma </li><li>Minimum of one (1) year of security and/or law enforcement preferred </li><li>Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with all constituents </li><li>Strong phone voice, projecting positive, friendly, helpful service </li><li>Must demonstrate professional business etiquette </li><li>Must be able to exercise good judgment and maintain discretion in communicating with staff, faculty, students, and outside visitors </li><li>Basic knowledge/skill of word processing, data entry, and Internet navigation essential </li><li>Must have good organizational skills, be detailed-oriented, be a self-starter, and able to work independently under minimal supervision </li><li>Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities and University demands essential </li><li>Ability to maintain a positive and upbeat demeanor with all interactions (face-to-face and phone) </li><li>Demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple interruptions, while working on a variety of tasks, yet maintaining a positive, professional disposition </li><li>Demonstrate ability to make good judgments and independent decision </li><li>Ability to quickly respond to emergencies </li><li>Military security experience is acceptable with proof of honorable discharge (DD214) </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>KCU is committed to promoting an equal employment opportunity workplace.
